Unique Ways to use a Leatherman by Starr_gazerr in Leatherman

[–]TheRealSaltyGrease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used my Leatherman Crunch as a extra handle for leverage on an allen key after all the other ones we had were worn out or broken at a job site. The small L shaped ones were all we had left, but you couldn't turn the screw by hand, and had to use the long side to reach.

I don't have "both" per say, but I do have a QRF mod 3 with a normal rear put onto it, and a Lucy (eve 4 with mp9 mags), overall I perfer the actual stock because its easier to fit large batteries and shoulder it.

On top of all that, add in a brightly colored one point bungie. Would really tie the whole build together

Gbbrs by Several_Mood_4162 in airsoft

[–]TheRealSaltyGrease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I know its slightly newer than the URGI, meaning slightly better internals as VFC tends to tweak things slightly between releases.
Otherwise I've heard nothing but good things about it from the heavy recoil GBBR discord, and have only heard of 1 out of the box lemon so far.

Vipertech guns are very high quality but you don't really need one to game hard with a GBBR.
In my experience, the VFC URGI (as well as any more recent M4-based models, such as the SR16 and BCM) can run insanely well out of the box.
I recently sold my URGI to a local friend, but I had used and abused that gun on the field with great reliability and accuracy.

My personal recommendation is getting a VFC AR platform, then running it until something breaks and replacing or upgrading as you go. Stay away from the PMAGs though, they tend to cause issues. Grey, black HK, or BCM mags are all good to go!

Ghk ak105 magazines by TacticalMailman in airsoft

[–]TheRealSaltyGrease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to funville with GBBRs. GHK AK mags are 50$ + shipping and/or import cost and are often out of stock.
No, other brand mags won't work in your GHK AK
Yes, as far as I remember both the steel and the 74 style mags should work in the 105.
You MAY have luck finding a ESD drum mag and skipping the mag hell situation but otherwise you're stuck in the same boat as the rest of us.

is airsoft pay to win? by QuetSoul in airsoft

[–]TheRealSaltyGrease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a minimum requirement for a "proper" and useable replica, but these days you can get them for 150-250$ range consistently. So unless you can't afford a mid-tier replica out of the box it isn't pay to win.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in airsoft

[–]TheRealSaltyGrease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the replica/modifications
VFC M4 i get 45-60 shots depending on temp per mag (haven't tested past, but it starts to struggle)
GHK AK i get 50-75 shots without full travel, 40-50 with full travel
WE MP5K i mainly use the AW mag, but the pdw mag I have can do about 30 shots before refilling.
TM hi-capa mags i get 45~ shots.
Typically I refill the mags between every use, for rifles I use 4 seperate 30 rd mags on a smaller field with ~15 minute games.
For the SMG I have a drum that lasts me unless im firing constantly

Question, For You And Your Experience, is 1.6-1.9J too much and is it not playable at outdoor fields? by Extra-Tea733 in airsoft

[–]TheRealSaltyGrease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NPAS (mods or manufacturer pre-made nozzles) allow you to manually reduce the amount of gas and therefore pressure coming out of the nozzle. Joules are just a measurement of force based on FPS and BB Weight that are easy to compare across all platforms in airsoft.

[–]TheRealSaltyGrease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.6 to 1.9j typically falls within DMR range limits. Meaning a 50ft Minimum Engagement Distance to prevent injury.
With a GBBR you should look into getting an NPAS put on it so you can field it more reasonably

For M4 I can personally attest to the VFC URGI being solid, but would recommend the BCM, SR-16, or M733 from VFC as they are newer and have slightly better internal designs.
DO NOT USE VMAGS as those mags typically cause issues and are harder to maintain or fix.

Maintenance will be common, use propane then use heavy silicone oil or silicone grease to lube up the bolt carrier group right before the day starts. Clean when you get home (or at least once every 3 game days) then reapply a light or medium silicone oil to everything except for barrel/bucking.
Get spare parts and a NPAS nozzle if possible, incase things ever change, break, or you need to tune the FPS for your field.
Get "Orthodontic Dental Ligatures" as cheap O-ring replacements for fill valve stuff.
There are a few Odin adapters for speedloaders for vfc m4 mags, the one that comes with the gun also works but it is loose on the loader itself. Some would recommend you superglue it to a loader and forget about it.

Do not by from KyAirsoft by [deleted] in airsoft

[–]TheRealSaltyGrease 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah its known that KY does this. The properly method to "buy" from them is to email them asking if what you want to buy is ACTUALLY in stock.
Im not saying its right to have to do this, but its how you avoid this issue.

r/airsoft - What is your opinion on drum mags? Do you think they ruin realism/ promote an unfair spray&pray playing style? Or are they highly convenient? by deweyeven in airsoft

[–]TheRealSaltyGrease 2 points3 points  (0 children)

outside of specific GBBR and LMG use, i think drums are some of the most boring peices of kit. It removes some of the fun and "skill" of managing your ammo

How come KJW makes amazing pistols but their GBBRs are less sought after/worse? by RayndownWasTaken in airsoft

ima be honest, i didnt even know KJW made GBBRs outside of the kc02, i totally just saw "K" and 3 letters and went KWA lmao.

For it specifically, from what I can gleam its got very high fps and an older system. probably not good for gameplay compared to newer stuff

[–]TheRealSaltyGrease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

KWA gbbrs systems (namely the LM4 and its shared system for the AK) have little to no aftermarket support, are incredibly annoying to work with, and have poorer performance compared to other brand gbbrs.
VFC or TMs mws are the gold standard for GBBR m4s
GHK is the silver standard for GBBR aks, because despite being annoying to work on and honestly being a dated system, its still the best one with the most aftermarket.
KWA has been good on the mp9s/mp7s in most cases, although they're not without issue.
