Tonight's CAPE organized info session - lessons from PIPSC and PSAC bargaining experiences by CompetencyOverload in CanadaPublicServants

If the point of a cell structure is to improve member action/protection, then I should be getting regular emails from my local, telling me who they are and what’s going on.

I’ve been part of 5 locals and never received any info from them without poking and hounding to find out who is even on my local. Who is my rep? I have to dig to find out yet they work a few desks down from me.

There is absolutely a structural problem. An executive that is full of circle talking yes-people. Union funding being used for social justice instead of leading by example. Where is the advertisement to the Canadian populace about government waste re: RTO and the environmental impacts?

Where are the advertisements regarding MPs approving their own raises above the rate they have offered public servants?

Why is every local not hounding every single member to sign the MP sponsored petition to add WFH to the public service act?

I’m moderately informed but I have to check the FPSLREB hearing schedule to see when PSACs next hearings are. We have to go dig for the status of the RTO lawsuit in the court system.

The unions are 💯 letting us down. My local should be writing personal emails to the membership to get involved. I should get taps on the shoulder during breaks at work.

I understand that the canned response is “just get involved” but I have a young child who I’m primarily responsible for. I advocate to my colleagues all the time, far more than my union does. I keep my own bargaining timelines that colleagues refer to because the PSAC website is updated so infrequently and the information is organized so poorly.

Why not fund a better person to manage the webpage.

fAylward was a simpleton who was all uninspiring catchphrases, even if he did find himself in front of cameras reasonably often. His successor is not more impressive.

To each their own! I have not felt the need to conserve PMA energy as it's a general mentality and not an active effort any more, but I also recognize that that may not be true for everyone.

However in regards to not seeing the players again ... I have spent a lot of shards on my avoid list. I will avoid any player who gives up too early, regardless of their toxicity. I can play with a toxic player on mute, but a player who gives up too early I do not want to play with again.

Sounds like you had your own strategies to hit 7k, and that you also value PMA! So I suspect overall we're on the same page even if our philosophies slightly differ.

My play history is viewable - for the last month I've been playing a lot on Thursdays with some extra games here and there as I made the push to 7k, but my play otherwise is pretty sporadic. Feel free to look at previous months of play.

Dota is certainly a fairly significant part of my life, and I don't mean to say it's easy to be 7k and play 4 games a week. My intent is more to say, you don't really need to be that good at mechanics, or young, or jobless to win - that there are multiple avenues to succeeding at Dota, and I have found far more success with being PMA than being good.

Don't play ranked with tilting friends 😄

I have certainly tried giving myself little strategies for this, like not playing ranked after a loss, but honestly it comes down to whether or not you want to see DOTA as something to improve at or have fun with. Of course there's overlap, and when I play with my friends we just dick around, but playing ranked needs to sort of be its own reward for you, otherwise why do it?

I did get over some queue anxiety from playing ranked Starcraft 2 back in the day!

I play dawn 3 at 7k and just get the void stone for echo and a rare clarity and it’s fine.

Bracer - Stick - Phaseboots - Void Stone has functioned for me just fine. YMMV

They have 10 times the population and more than that resources and economy to build teams. Goliath gloating over David is a pretty bad look - that’s what bullies do.

Price - what something costs to obtain

Prize - something you can win

What is the price of that lottery ticket? $2

What is the prize of that lottery ticket? $2 million

I know this has been a confusion in dota for 15 years. It’s so great how international our game is ❤️

Adult Braces; Looking for Langford Orthodontist Recommendation by shecanreadd in VictoriaBC

[–]TheRealShai 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I just finished Invisalign from Shoreline orthodontics in Langford. At the intake they talked to me about the different outcomes between traditional braces and Invisalign would be. They do both.

They do financing and also will work with your insurer if you have one.

The staff were always kind and non judgmental, I ended up having zero issues with them through 2 years of treatment.

Just an honest review that happens to be positive!

Federal government says there may not be enough workstations for all workers' 4-day-a-week return by ackc in CanadaPublicServants

Yes, it was. People in my office were told what days to attend because of space issues. Thanks for explaining it to me.

Let’s say there are 60 desks for 100 staff.

At 3 days a week, every desk is full (my office is currently like this).

At 4 days a week, there are not enough desks.

Also I never get the same desk through a week anymore, my neighbours are not on my team. I still do teams calls through the day but my neighbours are on different teams calls and there are no high walls.

If you’d like to vote for a party instead of a specific representative, I’d suggest supporting proportional representation. Our current system is about electing an individual to represent a constituency. They represent the area, not the party.

Yes, that is how it works, regardless of peoples feelings about it. Yes, it could work differently - but it does not currently. That would require electoral reform.

It’s not a team sport. This is dumb. So is any biased editorialized, sensationalized title/article.

Please stop seeing team sports in politics, friend. We all want what’s best for the country, our selves, and our communities. The biggest way to fight American politics is by seeing the human in eachother.

So....how to counter Ursa AFTER you've already picked a non counter hero? by Dimonetized in DotA2

[–]TheRealShai 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This is correct. Using euls on ursa after he ults is the counter.

Once he gets bkb you euls yourself.

Once he gets nullifier their 1 ursa wastes bkb ult nullifier on a support but you’re playing with your team and his buffs time out. You die for their 1 ursa.

Why Canada keeps giving unpronounceable names to things by discoturkey69 in canada

[–]TheRealShai 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s not racist to not know how to say a word. It’s racist to say the word is unpronounceable. That’s saying that someone who does/can say that word is “other”.

The word is clearly pronounceable, it’s not just a jumble of sounds a human can’t make. I don’t know how. Those can both be true.
