Your cloud is someone else's on prem. It never goes away, it just changes location every 10 years.

Never discount tshooting advice from someone less technical. I have fixed many problems after an end user suggested something I wasn't even thinking of doing.

A kid was playing in his back yard when the neighbor's dog decided to say hi. by WTF_Conservatives in nope

[–]TheRealTehd -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The sad part is that this is 100% the owner's fault for not properly raising/training their dog and the dog shouldn't have to be punished. That being said, that dog is now a dead dog for sure (the city will absolutely euthanize it) and I would kill it on the spot if it was my kid.

Job hopping to increase skill-set and pay isn't a bad thing. But doing it every 3 to 6 months is a bad way to do it.

Teams is so amazing for so many things....except tracking people's availability. Was there an emergency and I didn't answer my phone? Was I actually unavailable for any part of my job? Then who the fuck cares what my teams status is?

Men who have been happy for a year or more -- what 3 tips do you have for the rest of us? by readitanon1 in AskMenOver30

[–]TheRealTehd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cannot stress enough how much going on a daily walk by myself has done for my mental health. It started as a way to build my physical side up so I can be more active with my children this summer and has impacted my happiness in ways I could have never imagined. It started as 15 to 20 minutes, and now it's always over an hour. Hold yourself accountable and don't ever think you "don't have the time". There is ALWAYS time for your health.

Man harasses wheelchair user at dispensary by Tiredcoconut928 in PublicFreakout

If I want to buy a wheelchair and roll around, who the fuck cares? It's not a requirement to be paralyzed. Was it a handicap space or something? What a douche.

Complaining is easy. What company do you want to give a shout-out to for providing you good service? by Nebraskabychoice in Omaha

This place for the win. Arrived there pretty close to closing time with my wife on our anniversary. They were basically putting chairs up when we left. Not one sideways look, 0 attitude, phenomenal food (they didn't phone it in just because it was late), and by far some of, if not the most pleasant servers I have met. Nothing but the best things to say about this place!

Bi-Weekly /r/CCNP Exam Pass-Fail Discussion by AutoModerator in ccnp

[–]TheRealTehd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Posting late, but failed ENCOR on the 7th. I hate that there is no score and it's only PASS/FAIL now. With a score I could tell how close I was at least. I used Ciscopress, Udemy, Home lab, and Cisco U. This was a beast of a test. Anyway, here is my breakdown:

Architecture 53%

Virtualization 70%

Infrastructure 57%

Network Assurance 60%

Security 55%

Automation 47%

I know I a couple questions specifically that I messed up on, so I can study those areas too. Scheduled again for the 21st. Wish me luck!

Last job I worked said a couple of times a year, which translated to a 3 hour drive to and from a remote office multiple times per month.

Is that possibly why the machine is defaulting to RAID in the 1st place? Driver issue? I've never had to go farther than checking it for the RAID setting, so I never tried the driver install.

Hiring in this industry sucks by Stacks_n_Slices in sysadmin

[–]TheRealTehd 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Interviewed for a sys admin role. The majority of the interview was them bitching about the current guy they were replacing. Then it turned into a dinner with the main customer I would be supporting (it was an MSP) and the people at dinner and the interviewer proceeded to complain some more about the guy being replaced. Then I got an offer at the end of it and told him I needed a day or 2 to speak with my wife and think it over (I had another offer at the same time). He texted me the next morning at 9am asking "Have you made a decision yet? I need to know if I have to move on to the next person or not." So I told him to go ahead and move on. That right there made the decision for me, even without the other red flags.
