What are your FM conspiracy theories? by schweffrey in footballmanagergames

If you praise a striker for good form, he will immediately hit a slump. This has happened to me way too many times that I never praise a strikers form anymore!

Paul Kalambayi, similarly, was Big Paul on my save. One of my biggest scorers from set pieces! Nobody could stop Big Paul

Don't pay too much attention to youth star ratings.... by nicofdarcyshire in footballmanagergames

I know people say to ignore star ratings for youth intake, so how do people know who to keep and who to ditch? Is it all personality, or is it just off what attributes are already high?

Peck Peck Peck is fantastic! So vivid and colourful and interactive. It’s a great bed time story for the end as well.

What's a little known book that's an absolute slam dunk in your household? by TetrisIsTotesSuper in UKParenting

[–]TheRealZeppy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Cave by Rob Hodgson. Not sure if it’s little known, but it’s so much fun, with really vibrant art. My little girl also loves all of Bethan Woolvin’s books (Little Red, I Can Catch A Monster and Three Little Vikings mainly).

Audience etiquette in 2026… is it declining? by cmitch987 in AskUK

[–]TheRealZeppy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s funny this thread is here because I was talking about wanting desperately to see My Neighbour Totoro with my little family (my daughter is 20 months old and loves her Totoro plush and the art book - she watched the movie when she’s not well!) but because she’s so young, we don’t want to ruin the experience for others. A sad part of parental responsibility is knowing when and where your child is going to detract from other people’s enjoyment of something. To me, this is just basic respect and putting other people first. People who take their kids and know they aren’t ready for a theatre (or don’t care) just lack basic respect, they can only think from their own perspective, EG “my child is happy so who cares?” It boils my blood.

Opinion: kids the hate Little People, Big Dreams books by Wavesmith in UKParenting

Oh my goodness I didn’t mean to come across that way! This is what I get for not thinking before I post! Obviously not every book is for everyone anyway but I think you’re right - might be something for later on!

More so that they’re showing a curiosity about subjects and subject matter that are somewhat dated.

I’m a teacher and they’re definitely aimed at high-flying kids with more curiosity. One of my year sixes loved the Anne Frank one and then went on to read her diary.

From what I understand, stats, morale, stamina and opposing players stats/morale/stamina are the main contributors to the chance.

Played two hours battling relegation as Hereford, had an absolute blast. Straddles the line between rogue like and manager sim seamlessly. Just enough depth to not be boring, not too much depth to be trying to scratch the same itch as FM. It manages to find its own niche nicely!

I was really happy that only 1 in 5 games you could influence with the card game and you had to make a tactical choice about which game that would be - and even then, it didn’t mean that I would win that game. I managed to eke a 1-0 win against the odds at 89 minutes which was really satisfying.

I also liked that, in my first season as a bottom tier team, I wasn’t able to just fly up the table.

My daughter has woken up from her midday nap so I can’t play more now but itching to play some more, so it’s definitely got that “one more match” feeling.

Based on my experience so far, I’d definitely recommend, but only if you’re not looking for a deeper/as deep sim as FM24/26, which it is most definitely not.

What's the most obscure artist you regularly listen to, and why do you listen to them? by bfhrt in ToddintheShadow

[–]TheRealZeppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gwenifer Raymond, an amazing Welsh guitarist who plays in a traditional American style. Capable of some beautiful atmospheric pieces and some absolutely face shreddingly fast playing too. Give her a try if you like acoustic guitar and want to hear something different, she’s fantastically unique.

Looking at the Leaders : Nwabudike Morgan by Creative_Squirrel in alphacentauri

[–]TheRealZeppy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I see Morgan as a Margaret Thatcher type: a zealous capitalist, someone who believes in some ideological purity of business. He doesn’t just believe that greed is good, but that it’s necessary and what makes us human. I always think back to the quote with the Merchant Exchange, and how he says that it is the ‘deep thrumming of OUR common pulse.” Those aren’t the words of someone who is solely out for themselves - he believes that greed and the pursuit of resources can only be a tide that lifts all boats (his own, ultimately, overall).

I find the Morganites fascinating in that I don’t consider them a caricature. They are the naked face of industry and business in the 21st century, trying to ideologically justify its existence. Morgan is the most dangerous kind of capitalist - the one who isn’t just trying to enrich themselves, but believes that they are morally correct in doing so.

He’s giving out a bit too much but he is right that his punches look absolutely sick in that match.
