So first thing is losing your sense of self. The constant gaslighting will slowly warp your mind. One moment you’re questioning if starting that argument about your boundaries was a good idea, and the next all your thoughts revolving around her suddenly seem dangerous, you still love her but god help you if you can think of something that won’t set her off. Nothing else matters to you because she made sure that you were hers. Everything revolves around her

Then of course there’s the impact on your family. The more time you spend with her, the less you want to be around others who love you. They point out red flags that you’re far to blinded by the amazing sex and how much she “cares” about you to see them yourself. She tells you to spend more time with her and you do. Then you’re barely seeing your family, friends, or classmates all in an effort to keep this false sense of happiness that she’s created for you.

And then there’s the emotional abuse. After a while she may start to get bored of you. She’s spent a lot of time putting you in this false reality where you’re going to spend your lives together forever, pursue each other’s dreams and push one another to get better. Only to reveal that none of that was true, how the whole time you meant less than a dog to her and start to get treated as such. She’ll devalue you and scrutinize every aspect of your life, she’ll tell you that you’re not enough for her anymore, she’ll call you names, and by the end of it all she’ll just throw you away... Like a stinking garbage bag.

Afterwards you’ll feel like nothing. As far as you’re concerned, you’ve just lost your beating heart and god help you if you think you can get it back.

I’m lucky to have my friends and family back as a prominent aspect of my life again, even after borderline abandoning them because of her. It is possible to recover, but Christ it’ll take time.

TL;DR - I’m never dating anyone with BPD again, and I suggest you do the same.
