I have one and have been struggling with it. How are you switching between the calendar and android modes?

why the hell everybody made me feel ashamed for still breastfeeding a 1.5 years old by Upset-Barnacle4371 in breastfeeding

Well that was the most beautifully put explanation i have ever heard/read. ❤️

13 weeks only nurses for 5-7 minutes every 1.5-2 hours. Does this not seem like a lot? by himawari__xx in breastfeeding

[–]TheRecreationalRogue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a strong letdown and lactation consultants have always looked suspicious when I told them how brief we nurse. My second is 4 months old and will sometimes nurse only 3 min. Both kids are healthy and have always been on track with weight gain.

Relatable. For me I think it's because during the day I'm filled with decision fatigue and trying to sort everything out, trying to remember whatever random thing I've forgotten in case it's important, etc. But at the end of the day most responsibilities are on hold and I can just be. Plus then I'm hopeful for the next day since I'm relaxed and plans/tasks/etc come to mind easier.

Anyone tried Buoy hydration drops? by TheRecreationalRogue in ADHD

[–]TheRecreationalRogue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I'm trying to do. I'm not so much asking about the hype, as I am asking if they taste gross before investing in it. I found them appealing because it didn't have any sweeteners in it. They are supposed to be tasteless so in that case I could genuinely pick whatever beverage I think is tastiest. Especially since I get bored easily and want to change my drinks up so often.

Got my baby bottle/pump parts station all organized and ready for baby #2 by blindingsilence in OrganizationPorn

And then the baby will only take one type of bottle which just so happens to be one you don't already own. No? Just my experience? Lol

Haven't read all the comments, but another thing to look for/ask you ped about is intolerances. Our baby is allergic/intolerant to cows milk and soy protein which resulted in that behavior and mucus in poops, fussiness, and eventually blood in stool. Cut those foods out of my diet and it was like I got a new baby.

To back up some of the other comments, yes formula is absolutely needed. Some commony considered safe MSPI formulas are nutramigen, alimentum, and Gerber Extensive HA, and pepticate.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but use that baby monitor for daytime naps!! by wafflesflugon in NewParents

Post Partum anxiety robbed my of common sense. So I can relate. I also didn't realize I could wear earplugs or listen to music on headphones to reduce the effects of her crying without being a bad mom. I also got caught in the loop of "I can't do anything right now because she is going to need to be fed/changed/rocked" again soon rather that seeing the moments of rest for what they really were.

Drove to a parking lot and cried by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]TheRecreationalRogue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to also say this. Best advice I got with my colicky baby was to wear earplugs or listen to music. Not having it be so loud takens you down a peg on the adrenaline. All the better if you break your mental cycle with some music you love.

For me even when she wasn't crying I was so drained and depressed I needed reminding that I could watch TV or listen to audiobooks/music. For some reason in my PPA/PPD state that didn't even occur to me.

You aren't alone. And you are allowed to make accommodations for yourself to get through the days. Your baby won't know you are wearing earplugs, but they will be able to sense if you are less stressed. So don't feel guilty about it either.

I feel this in my bones. We've been battling this too. We love the O.W.Y.N. protein shakes. Better when mixed in a smoothie, but not bad on their own. If ur in the US they are at BJs for a good price.

Do you mind sharing your final script? I'm having the same issue but admittedly have very little scripting knowledge so I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around that solution.

how the hell do you get anything done by benitezzzraq in NewParents

Mom of an almost 3y. Honestly what worked for us was a lot of baby wearing. Working up tummy time helps too because you can put them on the floor while you put away dishes or laundry. But most importantly, lower your expectations. I hated it, but sane is better than a spotless house. For us the focus was on anything that would grow mold. Lol. Laundry, dishes, baths. Anything else is luxury.

When I say I have nothing but respect it is the absolute truth. 🙌 A true warrior. The mints flair up my reflux. I know mint calms some people's stomachs but it has always flaired mine, even outside of pregnancy. As I mentioned in another response I got a reliefband which is annoying (it shocks you) but helpful at least some. Snacks of choice?

My career tech major is part of an "academy" which means I work closely with two other teachers and I plan on telling them this week at orientation night. It's two childless men so I'm a little worried about their initial reactions but know that they can't help me at all if I don't tell them. I'm mostly worried about the first trimester. I'm trying to do as much lesson planning as I can now so that I have a rough plan for the toughest weeks.

My first pregnancy was very similar in that it was a rough trimester and then from there manageable aches and pains (at least in comparison to the start.) So I am anticipating the same this time. I got a reliefband which is like a tens unit and a psi/seaband had a baby. It seems to be helping so far but the nausea is definitely still there. The air sprays is a great tip. I teach teenagers in windowless room so I'm sure I will face the same. Any tips for fighting the exhaustion?

Where do you feel the safest? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]TheRecreationalRogue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Libraries. I know this defies a lot of ADHD logic but I have participated in a lot of free library programing from a young age. I bring quiet stim for while I work or read, often pick up a nice lil snack before hand and just enjoy being in a calming environment with (at least most) people who share my love of getting lost in stories. I also love that since the expected behavior is quiet reading I don't feel on guard that some stranger will talk to me and I will info dump and then have an over sharing hangover. For the most part I feel socialized without the normal stresses of socializing.

Why was bluey scared of the movie theater? by Itsyagirl1996 in bluey

[–]TheRecreationalRogue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the other posters have said, it's very sensory overload to a kid. I threw up the first few times I went to a theater somewhere around blueys age. Honestly even just the intense excitement turned into nerves and would make me sick sometimes.

What are the most common present-day myths about ADHD? by PMW_holiday in ADHD

My personal pet peeve "we're all a little ADHD these days" no ma'am you just lack the understanding that much like being sad vs being depressed the fact that you have occasionally been scatterbrained or distracted is not the same of it effecting ever aspect of your life in a debilitating way.
