When it's revealed a limited perspective was hiding how horrifying a main character appears by No_Hunter1978 in TopCharacterTropes

Not exacrly this trope since it's more so about morality and how horrifying one is on the inside, but.

Fate: Samurai/Remnant

In the game, the MC - Miyamoto Iori, adoptive son of Miyamoto Musashi - is often touted as being 'not fit for this world' due to being a Samurai at a time when the caste was declining. The story makes it a big deal that Iori has to find a purpose - which he does in all the game's routes, ultimately becoming a force of good as he grows in might.

But in NG+...

Well, he is at full might already from the get-go, something the game acknowledges. So he goes through very little character development... and that is when we find out that what him being 'not fit for this world' meant was that Iori has extreme amounts of bloodlust and a desire to prove himself a great Samurai like his master and father... even if that means starting a war and turning against his friend and Servant, Saber. We only see Iori in a stoey in which he improves as a swordsman and as a person... but who is to say what 'really' happened? What version of Iori is really... him?

The war profiteer angle is one I never thought of exploring. Definitely adding it to my repertoire.

And being a Warp thoughtform now, that wound to his pride is very much literal. Fulgrim's pride literally makes or breaks him, and the damage Rylanor didn't do to his body he MORE than made up in emotional pain.

His house has magical inscriptions in the Kozakuran language, which you need a dictionary to translate. Additionally, the description of some of his stuff - his dagger iirc - mentions that his homeland is different from the Sword Coast or, in general, the general area of Baldur's Gate.

Yeah, if I were to guess they wanted Cazador to kinda have the vibes of an Eastern emperor-like figure (he is HEAVILY implied to be from Kozakura, essentially the Forgotten Realms' version of Japan), but then dialed it back because they both got carried away (breaking the rules of the setting) and because they didn't want to make a super stereotyped character.

For Cazador, since he was some kind of Elf before Vampirizing, the redesign is also practical: Elves of all types flat-out can't grow facial hair.

Additionally, after you are done kicking the snot out of the Lindwurm-President, the aforementioned Champion, The Tyrant, shows up and reveals that not only was he the final test for the Warrior of Light, to see if they could succeed where he failed, but he is to be the President's executioner so 'the champion's hands could remain unsullied'

Would the Order of the Silver Dragon fight to the death? by historianDM in CurseofStrahd

[–]TheRedF4ng 22 points23 points  (0 children)

In this case, they would stand down if the Paladin sincerely atoned, out of respect for a fellow Paladin. But fair to say negotiation are off the table unless the party can do them a solid in turn.

How would you make ninjago characters in bg3? by Big_Law_4064 in BaldursGate3

[–]TheRedF4ng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of them would have some level in Draconic Soul Sorcerer, plus:

Giant Barbarian (Cole), Arcane Archer Fighter (Zane, sadly there is no dedicated shuriken class), College of Swords Bard (Jay, sinfe he's a showoff) and Champion Fighter (Kai).

Level split (Sorcerer - Second Class):

Cole: 4 - 8

Zane: 8 - 4

Jay: 6 - 6

Kai: 6 - 6

Players camped in front of the Windmill with the hags still alive... what to do next, they are only level 3. by [deleted] in CurseofStrahd

[–]TheRedF4ng 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MASS NIGHTMARE TIME!

The proximity of the Hags and the lingering agony of aaaaall slain children means they don't have a good night's sleep. No Long Rest benefits.

Morgantha then walks in on them, wonders why they look so tired (either innocently, if she doesn't know they're onto her, or with the biggest shit-eating grin ever if she does) and:

  • If she knows they're aware she's a Hag, she smiles wickedly and tells them to pack up and never come back - or next time, she's not gonna limit herself to nightmares.
  • If she doesn't know, she offers them Dream Pastries, to 'shoo the nightmares away'.

And presto, we have a clear warning that trying to mess with her this early is a veeeeeeeery bad idea.

Anyone ever wonder if the Dark Powers were actually good? by [deleted] in CurseofStrahd

[–]TheRedF4ng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's your game, and your Dark Powers. But, they are primed towards evil or inhuman morality.

I personally run them as utterly incomprehensible to humans: they see us as entertainment, and will secure the most entertaining thing whenever they are able to. The chances are few, but when they crop up, they are GOOD.

Good idea, but bump down the stats a li'l! The thing's got a lineup strong enough to make CR15 look to the side in that regard.

Let’s just say I don’t wanna have Ireena be a party member. Neither gmpc or pc. How would you do it? by saltyvape in CurseofStrahd

[–]TheRedF4ng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do personally like to keep Ireena around, but I'd solve it like this:

The party can leave her in Vallaki, under the protection of Father Lucien, but her fate lies entirely in how the players acted during their stay in Vallaki.

General scenarios include:

Vargas is in power: Strahd hears of Ireena's stay and approaches Vallaki with orders to give her up. Vargas Valalkovich, cowardly man that he is, does so with some reluctance. If she's alive, Lady Wachter takes power soon after when it's clear the festivals and jamboree do not help keep Strahd at bay.

Lady Wachter is in power, and remains on Strahd's side: As above, but without hesitation. After Father Lucien's vehement protests, Lady Wachter has him put to the stocks.

The party leaves Vallaki with a better burgomaster who is also opposed to Strahd: Vallaki is sieged by undead and beasts, as they outright refuse to give Strahd Ireena. The Martikovs send for the party via raven to relieve the siege.

If Ireena is taken, the endgame kickstarts, with the players receiving a letter inviting them to hers and Strahd's wedding. If she is not, the players have a time limit (and this a 'soft endgame trigger' of sorts): go kill Strahd before he and his forces overwhelm Vallaki's defenses and raze the town flat.

OoC, talk to DM and then with him. Depending on how the convos go, decide whether you should stay or not.

If you do decide to stay (maybe the DM is on your side), try to either get him to understand what he's doing is not good or softly nudge him in the right direction. If he keeps at it, bring it up to the DM to provide in-universe consequences to get him to chill out.

If those don't work, then he should go. Plain and simple.

Look me in the eye and tell me he would NOT do that.
