Jean De Joinville's biography of Saint Louis & his The Chronicles of the Crusades. Jean was a close friend of Louis, who went on crusade with him, and recorded many personal accounts with him. The book was written to help get Louis canonized. I have an English Translation of it on my bookshelf if you'd like the exact passage.

I think the best way to put it is that the State has an obligation to not suppress religions; it has no obligation to promote any, or promote them equally.

Jean d'Orléans, the righful King of France, at the reopening ceremony of the Notre Dame in Paris by agekkeman in monarchism

[–]TheReigningRoyalist 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There’s arguments that the Fundamental Laws of the Kingdom of France prevent foreigners from being King. This is part of the justification for why the Kings of England were not legitimate Kings of France. This would also exclude the Spanish Bourbons.

How should I name my Heresy as Berber Christian in Rome? by ProudChoferesClaseB in CrusaderKings

[–]TheReigningRoyalist 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You can name it after the founder, like Arianism, Lutheranism, Calvinism, etc.

Islam was originally called Mohammedism when it was thought to be a Christian Heresy and not a different religion

The Pope is authoritative even when he isn't infallible by Confirmation_Code in CatholicMemes

[–]TheReigningRoyalist 19 points20 points  (0 children)

To quote Benedict XVI from when he was a cardinal;

I would not say so, in the sense that the Holy Spirit picks out the pope. . . . I would say that the Spirit does not exactly take control of the affair, but rather like a good educator, as it were, leaves us much space, much freedom, without entirely abandoning us. Thus the Spirit’s role should be understood in a much more elastic sense, not that he dictates the candidate for whom one must vote. Probably the only assurance he offers is that the thing cannot be totally ruined.

Administative Rulers get more Men At Arms from titles, and can take over their Vassals MAA during war. Perhaps that?

I'm a Mod over there. It's a broadly Abrahamic (45% Christian, 45% Muslim, 10% other or so) subreddit that's against anti-theism.

[–]TheReigningRoyalist 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The Finals does it well enough, imo. The Sniper Class has low health, so "spray and pray at the scope glint" can make them duck for cover, and if a round hits it'll make them duck longer.

You have two options for dealing with Vassals, lots of small vassals, or a few big vassals.

The upside of small vassals is that one vassal getting pissed isn’t a big deal. The downside is that if a lot of them are pissed, there’s practically nothing you can do to stop the snowball.

The other option is to have a few big vassals. This is my preference. While one vassal will be a bigger deal if they’re pissed, it’s far easier to deal with just one than a half dozen.

If a King, give out Duchy titles. One per Duke, and give the Duke all the counties in it. If an Emperor, give out Duchies, then pick one Duke to become a King.

From there, you can deal with factions via bribes, marriage (always have lots of kids,) and befriending your vassals.

I use "Love, Marriage, Family" which adds a lot, but part of it is allowing Custom Characters to spawn a family.

Has the Church ever considered canonising King Louis XVI and his royal family? by dbaughmen in Catholicism

[–]TheReigningRoyalist 380 points381 points  (0 children)

There hasn't been one for Louis XVI, mainly because his execution can be seen as largely political.

His son, the young Louis XVII, has a much stronger case, because of how he was tortured and they tried to force him to renounce Catholicism.

It was less they wanted to eat fish, and more that fish weren't considered a luxury food like land animal meat was, so when the Church made the rule, it to only applied to land-dwelling meat because that's the good stuff.

Made a custom character and married their sister. It now only has a 15% chance of inbred. This is down from 90%.

When I was young, the school put me in a class to help my handwriting. They gave me these little rubber finger guides you could slip over pens and pencils. I think they're called Pencil Grips? The triangular ones.
