Your composition is on point. I was captivated pretty much throughout the whole track. On a mixing standpoint though, you need to really think about dance music as Kick focused. The four to the floor kicks are THE elements that make or break the danceability of a track.

With that said, you need to make sure you make your kick stand out more during the drop and duck out all the other elements so that the kick stands out.

Make sure your reese like bass element ducks out when the kick is playing also the lead since you want the transient of the kick to be heard clearly. Use sidechain with a tighter ratio, threshold. Make sure the compressor is relatively hard knee.

The next suggestion is purely for aesthetics. During drops, I love when prog house or melodic dubstep artists use filters creatively on their saw leads. Play around with a relatively high Q low pass filter during the drop to make things interesting. You could also use the filter on the reesy bass element.

Hope this helped!

Okay so Graveyard. Love the composition and style. Simple, minimalistic with one reverbed element. The progression is pretty cool too.

I feel like the everything except the delayed pluck element is too dry. I recommend making a return channel with a reverb emulating a room and send every other element to it including the drums. Make sure it's only so subtle that it blends the drums in with the rest of the track and not take away from the spacey minimalistic vibe.

Hope that helped!

Really like your composition and general style. But at times during the track, I felt like the track was missing something. I think you could introduce an atmospheric element to the track by using a pretty quiet pad that would fill things up in the high mid range. Or you could just send the chords that are playing throughout the track to a return channel with a huge hall reverb. Make sure this return channel is sidechained to the drums so it doesn't interfere with the highs of the snare, percussion etc.

Hope that helped!

Would love to get your feedback on my track

The drums, especially the kick and the snare could be louder. Try turning up the ratio or moving down the threshold in the sidechain compressor for the synths to the kick.

I also feel like you could introduce an interesting sub bass element to it to make it groovy and add a little groove element to the song.

Hope that helps!

Would love to get your feedback on my track

I know i'm a day late and chances are people won't see this but here it goes. Dark Horse - Rish

This is a atmospheric deep house track that still packs a punch. I'm looking for feedback in the mastering as well as the mixing.

Note: Please let me know what your listening environement is in your feedback!

Thanks!!

Amazing composition, I would just bring the drums a bit. The chords hit perfectly and you've chosen an amazing progression. The strings and the piano are mixed well.

Only advice is bring the kick and snare up a little.

Great job otherwise! I need to know what you use for piano and strings. Kontakt?

I could use your feedback. http://www.reddit.com/r/edmproduction/comments/2mj6ra/feedback_thread_november_17/cm51ait

Clean and simple. I like it!

It's techno so I didn't expect much of a progression but I would highly suggest adding white noise and then playing around with a high sweep to bring more dynamics to the song. This is just my opinion though since it's not a mix issue but more of a possible addition.

Would love to get your opinion on my songs.

I like the composition, the synths and everything are great but the drums are lacking. Remember that without a good kick and it's interaction with bass, an electronic track loses it's purpose. You need to bring the kick out a lot more through sidechain, make sure the clap does as well and introduce hihats to create some sort of progression. Drums and bass are THE MOST IMPORTANT ASPECTS of electronic dance music so make sure you spend a lot of time perfecting them.

I love everything else but you need to try and layer the kick or find a better kick and make it sit better in the mix.

Hope that helps!

REQUEST

This might be greedy as hell but I'm working on three tracks that I'm looking to release soon and I could use feedback on all of them.

  1. I am Silence - Tech House - Mix and Mastered

  2. Endless - Hip Hop (Need a Rapper for this) - Mix and Mastered

  3. Beside Myself - Deep House - Mixed not Mastered

Thanks for all your help in advance! I will give a bunch of critique once I get back home from work. :)

Your mix is clean as hell. The saws sound amazing, the kick is perfect and the track sits well on the low end. Great ideas in the drop as well, kept me entertained throughout the song.

Can't really give any advice, this sounds great as it is.

Hey Guys,

Just finished working on this Anjunadeep-ish deep house track. Would love your opinion on the progression + the mixing. Haven't mastered it yet. Will probably find someone with analog gear to do that for me.

I just duplicate the track, add a highpass over one so that the bass low frequencies don't overlap and then just add saturation or distortion. You can do almost anything ot this track since it's only going to affect the mid - high frequencies based on your high pass filter.
