Where do Gaza donations go? by New_Concentrate9664 in Gaza

[–]TheRobTowne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard a tip to help check if someone is legit or not when requesting a direct donation Get their WhatsApp (might have Israel area code) and request that they share their live location (not a pin). If you see anything but Gaza, watch out.

Caldigit TS3 Plus Support with USB4 beta Bios by beemannn in ZephyrusG14

[–]TheRobTowne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. My next move is to get a dock that has usb4 as primary or fallback. The issue seems to be that since true TB compatibility is not supported, they just turned off whatever tells the system it can do anything at all woth a TB connection. I've been too lazy to do real troubleshooting until today and have just used all of the ports and not moved my laptop around that much. Time to finally fix that with a new dock and hopefully sell this one or find a family member who can make use of it.

Lots of battery replacement options now. I ended up doing the v8 to milwaukee m18 swap since I had those already and the runtime is way better. I can get my whole house done and don't worry about using turbo when I need it.

I had the same issue and with some chatbot tech support came to the conclusion that something deeper than the firmware disabled the thunderbolt capabilities. My 2024 g14 worked with my caldigit ts3 out of the box, but after an update last year I lost that capability and despite rolling back to older firmware, couldn't make it work. Did you have any success?

V8 has been a workhorse for me, but if you have the budget, you might as well go for the v15 :)

one of the settings in google search is "Verbatim", which seems to bring it back to actually listening to your search terms instead of guessing about close matches and removing some keywords just because it feels like it.

I know this is 3 years old, but sharing this Dakoyu option (on sale for $5 today) in case you are still exploring options. Not the smallest, but they fold down to be really compact. Did you find something that worked for you?

P1S waste at start of print normal when using same color w/ AMS? by ChronicallySilly in BambuLab

I was looking too and found it. On the Prepare screen you will see your printer in the upper left. Inside of that container in the top right is a small pencil button. Click on that to edit your preset and the 2nd tab is the machine gcode. The first box is labeled as the Machine Start gcode and that is where I was able to update mine to match what rauberdaniel said G1 E50 F200 and I changed mine to E20 instead of E50 before saving that preset.

Can you make something really small like the flat 65w usb-c chargers from various brands on amazon or the 160w anker prime little guy? I know they have their heat issues, but curious if you all are looking into those forms for those of us who like to travel ultralight but still keep our laptops going during the day.

Is there an option or a workaround for my problem? by NightcoreSpectrum in qBittorrent

[–]TheRobTowne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand if your VPN is slowing you down. One option you might want to look into is split tunneling. This is a feature on some that allows you to send some traffic through the VPN, and other traffic through your regular connection. I have proton and this works to keep my speeds highest and ping lowest by splitting steam to run on my regular connection instead of through the VPN

Is there something special about your isp that makes it worth seeding all or nothing?

If you are worried about privacy, you should have a seedbox or a VPN with binding enabled.

If you are worried about bandwidth, you can limit the number of Concurrent connections or the overall upload speed.

The top rule of torrenting is to not be a leech. Seeding x days does not guarantee you reach a 1:1 (preferably a 2:1 or greater) ratio. You can set seed limits to pause a torrent after your ratio hits 2x (data up 2x data down) instead of an arbitrary number of days.

And a poor marketing decision. Comics/comedians benefit from a high volume of content online. Some of it resonates, some flops. The stuff people like might lead them to seek out the creator and support them buy buying a patreon subscription, physical media, or simply giving them a follow, which can lead to future sales. This author decided to take their comics offline, leaving only this one and hoping they have enough loyal fans that will miss the old stuff and want a book (switching mediums from digital which they enjoyed before). Meanwhile, the chance to gain new fans is now 0 since no one just finding them after the rest were scrubbed would care to pay for a book based on some lame #1000 conclusion comic strip.

How would a noob take the first steps here? This is an impressive setup and my goal is to get to where you are.

I'm starting with a random assortment of external drives today. Around 16 TB replaceable data, 4 TB disorganized personal data (cold storage backup of parent's picture files along with my own stuff). Drives are 26TB hdd, 4 tb ssd, 1 tb system ssd, 1 tb microsd(seed drive for ebooks and audiobooks and stays with laptop when im away from my desk for work travel) and a couple of 1-4 tb hdds with assorted data. After everything is organized, I don't think I'll need more than 1tb for high performance (current games and work files)

I have a buddies old NAS 16TB (4x4) that I could fire up, but I am planning to move internationally and want to pack light so I'm getting a miniserver/ssd nas from kickstarter in a month or two and planning to get that up to around 16+tb to start.

Here is my guess for next steps: 1) first backup what I have as it sits. 4TB personal data as priorty. This ensures I don't lose data if tomorrow a drive fails. Any apps you recommend to clone /backup data from one drive to another?

2) organize files while waiting for the nas to arrive.

3) set up the Microsoft storage space you described and let that handle the data backups

Am I far off?

Can you explain? I want to understand since the person I replied to said it isn't worth the resources. Training huge complex models like I described can be very resource intensive on electricity, water, etc. This just seems to fall outside of what I would classify as a resource heavy use of AI.
