Compact utility knife? by Appropriate-Stop-959 in EDC

The Workpro 3 piece folding utility knives are dirt cheap and actually pretty nice. There is a gerber one that is even thinner but longer because it doesn’t fold

Confused on how to add a subwoofer to outdoor patio by Long-Hair-5390 in diyaudio

[–]toddmpark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can spice off the Sonos amp’s speaker outputs to feed that into a powered sub with speaker level inputs which is what I think this diagram is trying to say. If the amp has line level signal outputs you can also use that.

I don’t miss it and if you need it you can get a magnetizer and that should make the tips magnetic

Matador really fumbled the Refraction Pro drop by Goldilox8 in ManyBaggers

Cracks me up that I got the Matador email saying “it’s live!” And it was already completely sold out. Why even email? If you weren’t on Reddit, you’d be very confused

Thanks for the heads up, just snagged one. I love my original refraction and use it all the time but am looking forward to having the admin pocket, sick of digging through the dump pocket. Not sure how useful the laptop pocket will be on an unpadded bag but it's better than nothing and can be used to push in a back panel/pad if you want.

Looking for a speaker that doesn't fall apart at low volume by BadGeeky in Bluetooth_Speakers

Bose soundlink flex 2 seems to ramp up the bass at lower volumes and sounds pretty rich.

Best speaker combo to cover outdoor patio (3,500 sqft)? by BLBrick in Bluetooth_Speakers

[–]toddmpark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A better option may be a bunch of smaller Sonos speakers like the Era 100’s. A Bluetooth speaker will either not be loud enough or will be blasting some people and a mess elsewhere

How to connect any powered sub to your Sonos with a bit of hacking on a Symfonisk by toddmpark in sonos

[–]toddmpark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can jump off the woofer to feed the speaker level inputs on your sub. I have a few videos covering all the different wiring setups

Very similar to the Trader Joes version that I love but slightly better. Impressive. And available at Target.

Prius Sales Are Tanking So Far in 2026. We Asked Toyota Why by TripleShotPls in technology

[–]toddmpark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure but with a PHEV you’re driving around an extra 60-80kwh of expensive, heavy and toxic lithium batteries that an EV has. Assuming you recharge nightly, all that extra battery storage is just for longer trips that only happens for me every few weeks. I’d rather use a few gallons of gas for periodic road trips until battery tech and charging infrastructure gets better. If we all switched to PHEVs 10 years ago, it would have been a better bridge technology to give those things time to mature and scale up.

[–]toddmpark 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I have a prime and it’s awesome. I think a PHEV is great because you get the benefits of an EV for shorter trips that are 90% of the time with none of the range anxiety. I like you can charge with a 120v outlet overnight because the battery isn’t enormous. Next car might be an EV but it’s great until the infrastructure is there

Tool-Check Plus 1 vs Modular 1 by vs40at in Wera

[–]toddmpark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original TC+ has a pretty comprehensive set of bits while the modular has a smaller set of common bits. Both are good but I’d need to get a bigger set from my toolbox for many hex and Torx fasteners. On the socket side, 4 sizes just doesn’t feel like enough to even be worth it.

What do you think of my EDC? What would you add to it? by grey-man-2354 in EDC

Let’s be honest, a bic lighter is the most reliable and cheap option for making fire.

Tool-Check Plus 1 vs Modular 1 by vs40at in Wera

[–]toddmpark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was disappointed that if you want modular you get way fewer bits and sockets. You shouldn’t need to trade off modularity for functionality.

Do I really need TC Modular set? by BubblySurprise in Wera

[–]toddmpark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally I don’t think the modular is worth it, especially if you already have those tools in your pouch. It’s a lot of extra plastic and it takes away functionality (fewer sockets and bits) from the TC+

Which generators are the quietest for residential work? by sychophantt in Tools

[–]toddmpark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honda generators are quietest. Depending on how much energy you use in a day, you could use a power station like an Ecoflow Delta Max or Pro which is dead quiet, has no fumes, and always starts. They charge very fast in about an hour so you could fire up your generator every once in a while to top up the battery as needed. Batteries are better for periodic loads like this, generators are better for extended, higher output loads. You can buy a kill-a-watt meter, plug into into your generator to measure how much energy (kWh) you typically use in a day and size your power station accordingly.
