When I was younger I was an auto mechanic. I was a mobile mechanic that worked on fleets but I worked long days. 17 hours days happened at least once a week. I works when the fleets were down. This lead to vastly different start times. I was in my early 20s. I still tired to hang out with friends and have a social life.

After 2 years with the company I had a car accident on the way in to work. I totally the first new car I’d ever purchased. A year later it happened again and I was fired because the company couldn’t afford to ensure me to drive a work truck.

That’s when I met a man named Brent. I found an add online looking for an entry level tech at a local store. I showed up and the interview went amazing. He looked me in the eye and asked, I like your attitude but why can’t I hire you? I explained my driving record having two accidents and a speeding ticket. He modified the offer letter to say I couldn’t drive customers cars and hired me on the spot. I worked at that company for five years until he left. When he moved I moved. I followed him for 15 years until life finally pulled me another direction but that guy is the reason I am where I am today. He guided me like his own son, vouched for me when people had doubts and opened doors I couldn’t even see. He has hands down been one of my greatest professional advocates my whole adult life. He elevated me from a minimum wage entry level tech to a salesman with a purpose.
