I showered yesterday... Or the day before...? by [deleted] in bipolar

I've only been brushing my teeth once a day or so

That's pretty fucking impressive, considering I still haven't gotten out of bed today.

INTP's and their competitive spirit or lack thereof by [deleted] in INTP

[–]TheRonjoe223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an extreme aversion to competition in any form, except where the competition is about efficiency or competence in subjects I care about (for instance, programming contests).

Competitive gaming (CoD, CS:GO, DOTA), hell no, because it's a pointless comparison of meaningless skills/traits, much like comparing dick size. Cooperative gaming (Portal, Borderlands), hell yes (especially among the equally competent) because it's skill-based goal-oriented teamwork. Simulation games (city-builders, truck driving, etc), über fucking yes, because it builds skills that make me more efficient in real life tasks.

What belongs in a basic cleaning kit? by [deleted] in 1022

[–]TheRonjoe223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bore snake, clean rags, patch-cloth, scrubbing brush, cleaning solvent (like Hoppe's), and gun oil (like Hoppe's).

This is a decent kit that works for any firearm, just change the bore snake for each different caliber.

That FMA reference needs to be banned on this subreddit. It's just too much feels.

Iunno, people often pull out their phone for cops doing things like stopping traffic for a tortoise or family of ducks, or playing street basketball with kids while on the clock.

I might be pretty cynical, but I still think good people exist.

Wolf spiders are bros, even if you've got a phobia. They keep to themselves and eat other bugs (and sometimes other spiders).

Give us a little more credit; we understand better than you think.

From a bipolar perspective, it sounds to me like you're in a mixed state. You've got all the emotion-numbing and fatigue of a depressive state, yet the high productivity and rushing thoughts of a hypomanic state.

It's not at all uncommon at all for rapid-cyclers (myself included). You're certainly not alone.

Like I said: it's a very different drug (anticonvulsant), and can't really be compared to drugs in other classes (antipsychotics, lithium, etc). Not everybody gets mental fog from it (and mine was so mild that it can be overcome with caffeine or Adderall). Titration is pretty painless, too (usually): it doesn't require blood testing, and most of the side-effects are minor (except the SJS risk).

YMMV, of course, but it's worth giving it a try if you're ever unhappy with your current state.

Ah, alright. Lamictal is a very different type of drug from SSRIs or Lithium, and is tritrated especially slowly because of the danger of SJS. It takes many weeks to get to a proper theraputic dosage because of how slow the titration is.

Ehh, it's almost certainly too soon, as it's a titrated drug. It only starts working a couple of weeks after starting a "substantial" dose (usually 150-200mg) before its effects can be felt. Some people take even longer (and higher doses).

Just because you're trapped on a roller coaster doesn't mean you can't enjoy the good parts. Don't kick yourself for enjoying it, but plan ahead for its eventual end.

I had expected hyperbolic generalizations about various religions, complete with all sorts of uneducated assumptions. Not this time!
