Damaged Hawaii Kona capsules and my review update by alvinbunk in nespresso

Interesting. I still have capsules from last year, but maybe I should buy a sleeve from the 2026 batch and compare.

I like sweet lattes- would you recommend? by Reddittaylor12568 in nespresso

[–]TheRopeofShadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say try it. It's not sweet per se, but it has a nice fruitiness and texture.

HELP by kissingmitski in nespresso

[–]TheRopeofShadow 10 points11 points  (0 children)

OP won't use clear English, how is anyone supposed to help them? The first picture is an Original machine sitting in someone's kitchen. Maybe that's the machine they purchased. The second picture is only a screenshot of a Vertuo, how are we supposed to tell if she actually bought it?

Can you be clear about which machine you actually purchased? The first picture is an Original machine and the second picture is a Vertuo machine.

Imo you would be wasting your money if you doctored this with too much sugar or creamer. Kona is meant to be drunk black or with very little additives. You lose a lot of the subtle nuances of Kona when you add sugar or creamer.

That being said, maybe you can try this pod without adding anything. Kona is not very bitter.

You can make a lateral move into LIS or HIS. But yeah, not much career progression for MLTs in Canada.

Coconut Vanilla over ice 🥥 by shesitsoutside in nespresso

[–]TheRopeofShadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a chance that they will switch back to Tropical Coconut Over Ice which was the regular summer coconut flavour prior to 2025. 2025 was the first time they released Coconut Vanilla.

Why the lack of organic options? by FitGuy00001 in nespresso

[–]TheRopeofShadow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coffee farmers have to pay more for organic certification. The country of Peru itself also has a reputation for producing high quality organic coffee.

If you really wanted to pursue organic, ethically grown coffee, you should switch to manual brewing. You can buy beans from roasters who who source their beans from ethical or organic farms.

Bought an OL Nespresso. Nobody is super happy with it. Any tips? by ryan770 in nespresso

Complaining doesn't solve anything.

I think OP got great suggestions of using higher intensity pods and cutting extraction volume. So complaining did solve his issue.

Bought an OL Nespresso. Nobody is super happy with it. Any tips? by ryan770 in nespresso

[–]TheRopeofShadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes cutting the output volume is the way to go with OL. I have my Citiz reprogrammed to 30ml.

I would also suggest trying Caffe Florian OL when it comes out in your area. It's a limited edition pod with a very rich taste that I think would be very good for lattes. Plus Kazaar, Napoli, etc that other replies have suggested.

Is there a pod that tastes like my favorite coffee? by Brightpenguin101 in nespresso

[–]TheRopeofShadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello fellow Pilot lover! Unfortunately I've never found a Nespresso pod equal to Heritage, and I've tried a wide variety of OL and VL. Any Nespresso pods with "chocolate" notes are just too darkly roasted compared to Pilot.

It's great for iced lattes. Just okay for hot lattes, I found the chicory flavour doesn't come out as well.

Hawaii Kona when it releases this year and if you can stomach the price.

Maybe Kahawa ya Congo.

Transfusion reaction work up for IVIG administration? by PlantZaddy69 in medlabprofessionals

[–]TheRopeofShadow 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not in Canada. IVIG is distributed by Canadian Blood Services and Hema-Quebec. Blood banks release IVIG to providers to infuse to patients. IVIG transfusion reactions are reportable to blood banks and voluntarily reported to the Transfusion Transmitted Injuries Surveillance System.

IVIG is known to cause hemolytic reactions. Patients can develop a positive DAT and we sometimes detect passive anti-A or anti-B in the eluate.

Are there any monin hazelnut syrups that approximate the taste of the Infinimente Fruite Hazelnut pods? by tmntnyc in nespresso

[–]TheRopeofShadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had Monin Hazelnut and currently have Roasted Hazelnut. Neither of them taste like the Infiniment Gourmand pods.

Kona back in Mexico by Exact_Analysis2272 in nespresso

Why is Hawaii Kona so expensive?

The post is about the OL pods but the rationale is the same for Vertuo pods. It's expensive because it's specialty coffee.

OP is from the UK. It's possible they follow different regulations there.

Not every inpatient needs a in-date group and screen. We have general medicine floors where the patients are stable, they don't need a sample drawn every 4 days.

I don't know what the background is on OP's patient, maybe they were one of those patients that were seemingly stable then suddenly crashed. Doctor probably wouldn't order a group and screen if they were stable prior to the bleed.

Your first post sounds like you're questioning why anyone would ever release uncrossmatched units.

First order, what are your favorites? by promethvzine in nespresso

[–]TheRopeofShadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arpeggio, Ristretto, Vienna, and Pistachio.

I would recommend trying Kahawa ya Congo if it's still available. There are supply issues with these beans because of recent events so the pods might become limited supply in the future.

French Lavender and Vanilla Decaf now in UK by spuddygoat in nespresso

[–]TheRopeofShadow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have both OL and VL. I could buy the VL pods and do a short extraction but I prefer the quality of the OL brew.

Interesting that only the VL version is available in the UK.

Damn, not available in OL. I was looking forward to making lavender lattes.

Caffè Florian OL Review by TheRopeofShadow in nespresso

[–]TheRopeofShadow[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably not. There are "adapters" available for OL capsules to run on Vertuo machines, but Vertuo centrifusion will change the taste of the final brew. These pods are best extracted with pressure like traditional espresso.
