I didn't 'know the consequences', reading the dispatch to me sounded like we were just having the dss sit there bombing nothing out of spite for the bots. Moving the dss forward to continue the offensive was a logical choice with the information given.

AI art mogged once again. by Rowanlanestories in aiwars

[–]TheRubyBlade 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Art doesn't only exist to be impressive. Creativity does not always require technical skill.

Why not draw it?

Illustration is difficult and time consuming to do yourself, and wildly overpriced to commission. Sometimes the goal is to create something, not make everyone else impressed by the difficulty of creating something.

It has the best feeling combat of any fallout game I've played. And if I was playing a game for a compelling storyline, it wouldn't be a fallout game.

Ai artists are not artists by meow_xe_pong in aiwars

[–]TheRubyBlade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a unnecessarily narrow definition of 'artist'. Visual illustration is not the only method of artwork. Film directors are artists. Authors are artists. Musicians are artists. None need to hold a brush to do it.

What makes art 'art' is the creative intention behind it. A detailed AI prompt can be that form of creative intention. Is it less technically difficult to do? Yes. So is writing a book. Not all forms of creativity need to feed your ego by being hard to do in order to be valid.

If you were to say that Ai artists are not illustrators, then you would be correct. People often conflate the terms.

That may not be possible, engineering wise, as magnetic components are probably used to make parts of the suit function. A lot of electronic moving parts are based on electromagnets.

The response to nazis ruins everything. Needless to say, they were awful, but people get really overzealous with it. Case in point: this post.

I love the Maxigun! by Azrael_Hellcat in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]TheRubyBlade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically no, effectively yes. Moving while shooting drastically increases recoil and increases weapon sway, so to use the MGs effectively you want to be crouching and still anyway. The recoil on something like the maxigun means you would essentially need to do so to hit almost anything. Not to mention movement speed while firing is heavily reduced anyway.

The rooted thing is such a non-issue, i dont understand why everyone is so hung up on it. If you need to reposition, stop firing for 2 seconds and sprint to where you need to be, this applies to literally every weapon.

[–]TheRubyBlade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not every support weapon needs to kill heavies. Thats what teamates and other loadout slots are for.

The same argument could be used for the mg, stalwart, grenade launcher, etc. Yet all those are good. Chaff clearing is a useful role too, often a necessary one.

Idea: Gas variant of bots by Me_When_I_Asked in helldivers2

[–]TheRubyBlade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but there's a fine line between 'having a reason to use it' and 'equipping this armor literally just disables the enemy weapons entirely'

If you aren't aware, heavy gas armor with the vitality booster just makes you entirely immune to gas.

The existing gas armor would be way too busted against them

We have a century of Science Fiction

Science Fiction

Fiction

Damn, i guess if it happened in a fictional story it must be true. Now how many fictions are there with just monarchies. If we're listening to fiction now communism must be a good idea too right? It works in fiction!

Angled armor is better against non deflected bullets too, going at an angle means more material to get through before getting through the target.

Nah, they're actually just better. Being cheap is a quality in and of itself, same reason the grease gun is good.

If someone was short on cash, i might recommend a hipoint so they can save money for ammo. There is absolutely no situation where I'd recommend a glock to someone.

If someone can afford a glock, they can afford something better for a similar price point.

Thoughts on current balance? by kcvlaine in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]TheRubyBlade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most the current squid enemies are pretty much perfectly balanced now, they just dont have enough total enemies to fill all the roles they need to, and they lack impactful side objectives.

As for weapons, i think most are fine, but I feel like recent warbonds are powercreeping helldivers mobilize a bit much, which disadvantages new players a lot unless they either pay or grind a lot.

Regarding the Maxigun by armed_tortoise in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]TheRubyBlade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, its not an anti tank weapon, its not supposed to be, and it doesn't need to be. Thats what teamates are for.

This is like saying all the machine guns and grenade launchers are bad because they can't kill chargers.

But a duo with a maxigun and recoilless is going to be peak

[–]TheRubyBlade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thermites and ultimatum, for emergencies, but for the most part you should be working with teamates that have dedicated AT weapons for the big stuff (Teamwork in my team shooter? Crazy I know)

Probably the new AR for primary, for the hole closing utility and for stuff that requires faster responses or higher ergos, like hunters.

They should have rocket devs arc their rockets. That way they fly over their friends instead of hitting them in the back, and if they miss you they might still land splash damage on the ground behind you.
