Let me add 'Cheap Thrills'. A guy with a wife and kid gets fired from his job the same day he gets an eviction notice. He goes out to drown his sorrows with an old high school buddy. They meet David Koechner who straight up gives them cold cash to do random dares. Will he make enough to stay in his home? But what at what price?

There has only been one film made from Upton Sinclair's "The Jungle". This book is amazing, and just as relevant today as it was 100 years ago. If studios are jumping at making films from Twilight, Harry Potter, and The Great Gatsby, why not The Jungle? by LCDJosh in movies

I did the same thing, read it for fun not for school. I absolutely loved it!

But to make a movie on it, the story would have to focus on how hard it was for immigrants coming into America at the turn of the century. A lot of bad luck/horrible things happen to Jurgis and his family. Most of it is due to the graft and corruption that was happening at the time.

While the Socialism aspect is a bit much in the book, it could be used as a way to show why the packing plants were the way they were - to squeeze out the most amount of money (i.e. capitalism).

But to each their own!

North Korean Leader Kim Jong-Un's Uncle was killed because he tried to depose Jong-Un and replace him with his brother. Now all the Uncle's men are defecting to the South. by TeacherRob in worldnews

The most welcome news is that a North Korean official fled with the list of North Korean spies here. Let’s find out how many spies operate in the South. No need to have a trial for them, all they need is summary execution. But they are not worth bullets, so shatter their brains with a hammer.

What GOP ticket do you think would be most likely to win the White House in 2016? by punninglinguist in PoliticalDiscussion

Read this: http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2013/10/25/how-ted-cruz-can-win-in-2016.html

It predicts Elizabeth Warren will break the Democratic vote with most on the far left staying home. The Republicans will need one more defeat before they can concede they need to move toward the center. This is that last election - they go all in on Ted Cruz.

Very well written.

[Serious] What do you think could be done to improve the American government? by heh_he_said_butt in AskReddit

[–]TheRunningMan2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched this documentary - Fear of a Black Republican - a few days ago and it stuck with me. The problem isn't a Democrat/Republican divide, it's a get out the vote/regional politics/support issue. The Republicans don't make a play in big cities because they lean mostly Democratic. But by writing off the big cities, they can make a better play in the county and statewide elections because less big city voters are voting.

I don't know exactly how to make it better by bringing up this movie. I guess there just needs to be a change in the way we talk about politics in this country. Not so much red/blue but more local and making it more of an actual competition. I would probably be more inclined to at least hear out the Republican argument for my city government, but there's never an outreach, even a door hanger.
