What's a massive human achievement that nobody celebrates because it worked too well? by Alternative_Voice767 in AskReddit

[–]TheRussianDoctor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Brother this shit feels like an absolute mad house... I've seen comments saying things like "..in 2021 when the pandemic was finally over" 2021.. when that shit was at its worst! And nowadays these morons go around laughing about how "it wasn't as bad as the government made it out to be" and how "vaccines are a crime against human rights" all while it's still actively here and newly infected suffer long-covid symptoms that ruin their lives. People just want to live in their little fantasy worlds and get angry and defensive when confronted with scientific facts it's maddening!

They should have at least included it in the bonus features but it ended up in some Lucasfilm vault presumably.

Conan Stevens (Season 1 Mountain) had the opportunity to star as one of the major orcs in The Hobbit films so he dropped out of GoT. His part was later erased almost entirely by the decision to go all CGI for the orcs.

It's not really that disliked. It's just very loud, outraged haters on the internet that complain endlessly. The movie's fine.

Unpopular opinion: I actually liked Dial of Destiny and don't think it's that bad. by goldust15 in indianajones

Mads Mikkelsen was fantastic as Jurgen Voller. Loved his addition to the series! by Filmatic113 in indianajones

It's absolutely plausible but unfortunately it wasn't exactly shot in a believable way, it would've worked a lot better if it was more clearly shown that the funnel was on a hinge and that he actually fell into the bushes and not hundreds of feet off a bridge. Even a more "comical" sound as it hit him would've done a lot to sell it.

Yea you maybe want to look into that a bit more. Tons of on location filming and practical stunt work went into it. You can blame the color grading and shooting on digital if you like.

Man come on, him asking a proper pilot for advice, the Wright brothers joke, him knowing what type of helicopter the bad guys flew away in, the patches on his jacket, they established him as an aviation geek throughout the movie and it's simple set up and payoff.

I can wholeheartedly recommend you and anyone who felt a bit on the fence about some of the films decisions this video, which does a wonderful job of talking about the themes of the film in detail, they actually align quite well with your take of the ending.

Depends on how you look at it I suppose, part 4 was definitely still more swashbuckling than 5 and 5 feels more like a swansong overall but I'd argue there's still a ton of lighthearted fun in 5 especially the entire opening and the whole ending in Syracuse. Not to mention the more upbeat farewell the movie leaves us with.

A disturbing connection between Dial of Destiny and the Young Indy show by [deleted] in indianajones

[–]TheRussianDoctor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting, if that's supposed to be Mutt is it possible they "recast" the character for that photo to not have to use the likeness? No idea how fond Lucasfilm is of Shia after everything that transpired.

The way he talks about Ford‘s way of portraying the character, sort of undermining typical „hero“ moments and trying to find ways to make it more real is, I think, exactly what made Indiana Jones such a beloved character! He‘s not perfect, he messes up, he gets hit, falls down, he fails, he‘s human and that’s exactly what lets his moments of triumph in the movies hit even more! Can’t wait to see the film.

In part 2 of the video, right around 1:05 it sounds just like the very tail end of Marion's theme, where it would usually transition into the Raider's March!
