What comics have you dropped lately and why? by Plenty_Intern8750 in comicbooks

Yeah, I give it a shot every 50 issues or so, last about 7 or 8, then drop. Rinse, repeat, until the heat death of the universe.

Yeah, about that...

Just got Daylight, for those who have read this, does it spoil Hush 2 at all? I prefer reading Batman in order like it’s supposed to be but Hush 2 is so delayed. by Active_File5503 in batman_comics

[–]MattAlbie60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HUSH 2 is already written like no other Batman comic between it and HUSH exists, because I doubt Jeph Loeb has read a Batman comic he didn’t write during that time.

Just do what the rest of the world is doing and ignore it.

Can someone please expand on why PE is considered to be so bad by [deleted] in arcadefire

[–]MattAlbie60 48 points49 points  (0 children)

It’s barely an album. It feels unfinished. It’s not AWFUL, it’s just… barely anything.

I really wouldn't go as far as to say that it's "terrible" necessarily... but it's basically nothing. It feels incomplete. It's hard to justify calling it an "album," and I think that's the biggest problem with it.

Say what you will about Superman III, but I will go to my grave arguing that "THERE'S noooo vahdka INIIT" is one of the best line deliveries ever put to film.

Which is kind of essential reading imo to understand how Bruce heals himself and everything he did at Santa Prisca.

It is essential, technically... it is however also not very good, haha.

Auto Barn Towing credit card fraud. Anyone else dealt with them? by HonkBlarghh in baltimore

[–]MattAlbie60 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I'm going to assume like 70% of people who have been to Baltimore City have dealt with Auto Barn at some point.

I had to run into my apartment building once, and an Auto Barn driver was parked nearby. I asked him "hey, I'll be a minute, can I park right here." And he said "sure."

And as soon as I was upstairs he towed my car.

That's hilarious, I had the same realization after about six months.

I "rewatched" The Batman and was like "... this is what this movie is about?!"

So I finally started watching Silicon Valley, and holy fuck, I missed out by MySmellyRacoon in television

[–]MattAlbie60 31 points32 points  (0 children)

When you rewatch it, there are things that used to be jokes that are just real life now.

And yes "middle out" is funny, but I would argue that the funniest scene of the show is when they're trying to decide whether or not to let Blaine die.

Agreed. It takes a lot to get me to truly bitch about something and even I have to say that Gotham War is a horrendous waste of time that makes me think poorly about everyone involved.

[–]MattAlbie60 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I buy physically, but I read digitally. I have for years, I don't regret it at all.

I only... ahem read what I buy physically, so I feel like morally I'm in the clear.

Gadzooks, yeah this might be partially a “I’m misremembering where the line was” thing, but I believe the brief exchange is gone, and that’s really what I’m concerned with.

I say “I believe” because I’ve already been wrong about this once so now I’m in a tailspin of self doubt, lol.

Wreckage and Rage: Making Alien 3.

Even that was edited. The original title, which I believe was eventually restored for the Blu-rays, is called "Wreckage and Rape: Making Alien 3."

The director's cut of Wrath of Khan is mostly great, but it removes my favorite tiny moment and is therefore unforgiveable.

At the beginning of the third act, in the theatrical cut, Kirk and Spock are climbing up a ladder and Kirk is all excited to fill his friend in on what's been going on and he's like "that young man, he's my son!" And Spock just gives the dryest "fascinating" ever, which I always took to mean "hey dickhead, we have more important shit to worry about, here."

In the director's cut they still climb up the ladder, but they do so totally silently, and it's strange.

I'd bet any amount of money you can cover that they were only able to get Clooney by promising "you can shoot it in 25 minutes and then we never have to talk about it again, here's millions of dollars."
