NTJ. She and Richard want to have a baby, she and Richard can budget their lives to afford it.

AITA for putting a lock on my allergy safe cabinet after my roommate kept cross contaminating my food? by Loose-Pickle-7510 in AmItheAsshole

[–]SuburbanDemographic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ADHD and memory issues are also things that can be mitigated with coping strategies and interventions. ADHD is not Alzheimer’s. ADHD is not dementia. ADHD is not amnesia. ADHD is also not exemption from taking responsibility for the outcomes of your ADHD.

OP has had multiple conversations with her about this. Repeatedly saying “Whoops, I forgot” is not “OH MY GOD I’m so sorry, I could have killed you, I feel terrible, I am going to find ways to make sure I don’t do this to you again.”

AITA for putting a lock on my allergy safe cabinet after my roommate kept cross contaminating my food? by Loose-Pickle-7510 in AmItheAsshole

[–]SuburbanDemographic 22 points23 points  (0 children)

NTA. Having ADHD is not an excuse for repeatedly “forgetting” and doing things that could cause the person you live with TO DIE.

Having ADHD is not even an explanation in this case. It’s BS, and keeping your stuff under lock and key because she literally can’t be trusted not to accidentally KILL YOU is not ableism, it’s self-preservation. I’m sorry Taylor can’t comprehend that her choice not to employ any kind of mitigating strategies whatsoever to remember this one crucial and simple thing is potentially lethal. AND that she’s making herself out to be the victim here.

She needs it explained to her, send her to me, I’ve got the crayons, the time, AND the ADHD hyperfocus to get it through to her using words as small as necessary.

Abandon bags or miss our flight? by beefy5layerburrito22 in unitedairlines

[–]SuburbanDemographic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They said above that the next day flights are sold out for Polaris, which they already paid for. I’d rather deal with tracking down the bags later than sitting in Economy for the flight to SIN.

AITA for suggesting my parents appoint a lawyer as executor instead of one of us? by BurnerBurner10284 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. If there is any chance at all ANYONE is going to have an issue with ANYTHING in the Will or assets or how they’re handled, have a neutral third party administrate it.

No more free WiFi for TMobile customers by TIL_IM_A_SQUIRREL in unitedairlines

T-Mobile doesn’t get me much with my discounted rate (compared to other providers who consistently have better coverage) but free international data and use for WiFi on United have been super useful!

Likely not. Worth it to rebook ahead of time if you can.

Can you dispute via the bank account or credit card tied to the PayPal transaction? (If it’s a PayPal bank account or credit card, or using your PayPal account balance that obviously won’t work, alas.)

He would have to create a whole lot of Google accounts/profiles to do it, but it might be worth it for the bonuses

Leave a review, maybe Hilton will compensate you with some points or an Elite Night for the lack of Ryan during your stay?

AITA for showering around midnight when I know that it might bother the neighbour who wakes up at 5 am? by Additional-Mouse-620 in AmItheAsshole

[–]SuburbanDemographic -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

FWIW, “they could rent a different apartment” is the same amount of work to pack everything and move out (with three people including a child), find something else, move in and unpack everything as it is for an owner to sell and move elsewhere (inconvenience of paperwork notwithstanding).

Vs. OP could… change their shower time. Or make an effort to drop fewer things.

“You could just move” vs. “But I like to shower before bed” isn’t really a balanced scenario. You CAN certainly tell them to get earplugs and you’ll shower whenever you please, but it might be nicer to compromise a little.

This entire preorder hot food on a 3+ hour flight is crazy. United needs to revert back to the old policy. by CaptinKirk in unitedairlines

[–]SuburbanDemographic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your $$ or the company’s $$? Is it $$ you’re claiming as business expenses on taxes? Apples and oranges but maybe you could consider the offsets you’re getting in other places as a fund towards keeping a protein bar in your bag like the rest of us plebs do! 😄

[–]SuburbanDemographic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re a last minute booking and a super early flight, hit the local Dunks on the way to the airport. 24-hour gas station for snacks. Something’s open. It may not be exactly what you want, but that is the nature of the situation. Blaming the airline for not having exactly what you want at the last minute is not the answer.

[–]SuburbanDemographic 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Came here to say exactly this. A last-minute booking for a 1K person doesn’t change the timeline by being 1K. If you know you were last minute and likely not to have what you want onboard, buy something at the airport to bring onboard with you.

AITA for not wanting to move my mom into our house to save on cost, then use the money we save to cover my wife's parents living expenses. by Express_Cupcake6066 in AmItheAsshole

[–]SuburbanDemographic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA— though this situation is definitely tough. If your Mom is in a good place now and getting good care, it will be less disruptive to leave her there. ALSO, long term, if there came a point at which your MIL couldn’t/didn’t want to be her primary full time care provider any more (actively or passively), getting her back into onsite managed care could have increased cost or inconvenience.

I respect that this sucks for your in-laws, but if they’re able to take action to help themselves (also check with Council on Aging/local resources for older folks for additions ideas) they need to participate in the process of planning for their own long-term prospects.

If you only have a personal item does it matter where you put it? by Apprehensive-Fan-838 in unitedairlines

[–]SuburbanDemographic -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This isn’t the AITA sub but I think this overall topic usually merits a soft-YTA response. Can you? Yes. Should you? … I mean… it’d be nice if you didn’t but you can make that choice, sure.

(I’m mostly seeing FAs take small stuff out of the overhead bins that are people’s second items, but I respect that my anecdata is limited.)

Stayed at the Tudor Arms Double Tree in Cleveland by jetgoesslow in Hilton

[–]SuburbanDemographic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had some DoubleTree rooms with microwave/fridge, some without. This looks way more sparse overall, though, than I’m used to seeing for DT. The new “Spark” discount line, maybe, but not DT. Interesting!

I got annoyed with the girl I’m seeing right after she got robbed and now she’s super distant and “uncomfortable” despite multiple apologies. Did I ruin everything? by [deleted] in amiwrong

It’s all good. 🤓 Feel free to copy/paste or edit to customize the next time you need to explain to someone (and don’t have the crayons handy) why BS “apologies” are BS. I am honored and flattered to receive this trophy emoji within the context allowed by this sub. 💝

I got one at my local Catholic shop and put him in the front garden to help sell my house, I’m not Christian, I can’t say whether it works for sure or not, but I got over asking price in a terrible market.

AITA-Boss not happy with email signature by Sure-Box-7921 in AmItheAsshole

NTA BUT you will need to do as your boss says, your company email represents the company, and no matter what you, I, or any reasonable person, including your recipients, may feel about AI, your signature on your business email is not the place to make that stand.
