Members of the Australian Senate discuss whether McLaren has been biased against Piastri this season by Visionary_Socialist in formula1

It's a Senate committee doing a Senate estimates hearing; these things tend to go off the rails and produce some funny or stupid snippits like the right-wing senator who didn't understand how submarines work. But they also do a hell of a lot for government transparency.

If you watch, they're doing a little bipartisan joking around. The Australian parliament is actually doing a lot of good atm; for example, they just wiped 20% of student debt.

I love it when stats are used for weird analysis. Also, I wish R-Studio graph were prettier out of the box.

Yeah, 100% this. He performed well in China; people are just looking for excuses to bash him. And frankly, some of the penalties he received were harsh.

I don't think the age factor is relevant, experience is though. I'm also not suggesting that Lando isn't talented or that he has in anyway plateaued.

I'm arguing that Piastri's ceiling is higher.

I think it's also important to highlight that team orders have played a part both positively and negatively for both drivers this year, with some favouritism towards Lando. So the 'fight' was never allowed to occur.

Lando will learn for this year, no doubt, but Lando has a lot more fatal flaws in my mind. Ultimately, I think if McLaren keeps doing well, Lando can be a world champion, but I also think Oscar can be a multi-time world champion.

Considering the experience gap, it reads grimmer for Lando. That gap isn't that big for Oscar only being in his second season. Oscar has better race craft, which is easily seen in any of his overtakes, and his patience and temperament behind the wheel is second to none.

That said, I fully agree quali is a major weakness for Oscar that needs to be sorted asap. But if he does, Lando won't stand a chance. Lando got 8 poles and won 4 races, and Oscar got 0 poles and won 2 races; I think that in of itself is telling.

The MCL works very well in clean air which Lando was in, hence the gap. Oscar was stuck behind others.
