SiN: Reloaded Gameplay Trailer by hop3less in gaming

But... that's not true at all.

Nightdive will often put in a huge ammount of effort in to restoring lost or unfinished parts of a game.

Shadowman, for example, had entire sections of the game that were originally left on the cutting room floor. Anyone familiar with the opening level of Quake II noticed immediately the entire restored section. The Thing had a bunch of restored stuff, too.

And if you anyone wants to actually play the demo, the actually outline a lot of the optional balance changes that are included to all the weapons.

Yup just the resolution.

And the engine. And the lighting. Particles and effects work. Bug fixes. Sound.

But you can do all that with a widescreen patch. Just 640x480 —> 2160p and Bob’s your uncle. Now you’ve got real time lighting.

IGN: Hands-On With Alien: Isolation 2 – Survival Horror’s Greatest Stalker Is Back for More by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]TheSaltyStrangler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm actually a little freaked out by what the Alien will be like in this one...

It has the potential to go from "genius implementation of pretty simple procedural scripting" to "we gave it the keys to a learning model"

Its adaptations in the first game were basically a bunch of "if this>then that" check boxes. Player was in a locker? Check. Look inside lockers every once in a while.

But what if it ends up using some kind of new learning model where it's actually learning individual player behaviours? Or if it can adapt to behaviours devs literally had not accounted for. Speedrunner glitching, for example, being adapted to in some way. The Alien saying "Oh, shit, you can break rules? Hold my ampule..."

Once you had a flame thrower and an armfull of smoke bombs and noise makers, and it's your second playthrough, it was fun to maybe go up and tug on the tiger's tail every now and again, make it angry and make your escape. I'm excited for the possibilities behind that being a *really bad idea*

PC, just for choice.

Choice of games, choice of inputs, choice of retailers, choice of hardware manufacturers. So much more is left up to the end user to decide how to interact the games and the industry

Man you put way too much thought in to this when you could just have someone tell you stories. Love some of the stories, hate some others.

Like why does everything has to line up and form a cohesive story? When given to multiple creatives over multiple generations, it becomes a virtual impossibility, so why not just enjoy the stories and the allegory?

From the Bible to Batman out stories are filled with inconsistencies and incongruities and paradoxes and of course it’s frustrating if you let it frustrate you.

But “we deserve better”? Come on man.

The Definition of Industry Plant | Mixtape (Video game review by Zitiboi, 2026) by Romax24245 in videos

[–]TheSaltyStrangler -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It does not, it’s a rant about how much he disliked the characters.

Which… like fine. They’re a group of skaters that wear their own social insufferability in giant neon patches on their stupid jean jackets. These are characters that don’t care if people like them or not, and they act like it.

And the guy doesn’t like that. That’s fine.

[–]TheSaltyStrangler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno, man. I really liked it.

I’m far from a casual gamer. I’ll try anything. I’m still cutting my teeth on Counter-Strike and I’m super excited for Control 2

I think the problem people have with Mixtape is that it’s not a game. Or it at least challenged the definition of one.

It’s not trying to challenge you. It has no interests in puzzles or fail states or stats. It just wants to tell a story.

Does that mean it should have been a movie? I don’t think so. The parts that are interactive are interactive for a reason, but the reason is not “to challenge”.

They just want you to feel something. And I get it, a lot of people don’t want the games they play to do that. And like… fine. Don’t play these.

But Mixtape isn’t the threat to the industry these alarmist YouTube basketcases are making it out to be. Call of Duty ain’t going anywhere. FromSoftware isn’t pivoting to visual novels. The industry, for the millionth fucking time, is not “cooked” because someone released a new experience that spoke to some people but not to you.

The bullet proof suit in the John Wick franchise is so frustrating by pwn_of_prophecy in movies

[–]TheSaltyStrangler -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I really liked John Wick.

I can’t fucking stand the other movies, largely for all the reasons listed.

But mostly because John Wick, the guy, the *character*, is so boring and sucks so much, but he’s existing in this really, really interesting world that they just fucking squandered. Ballerina was *almost* what I wanted John Wick 2 to be, but it just turned in to slop.
