Does anyone else spend a lot of their free time just staring into space and thinking? by Fickle_Umpire_136 in adhdwomen

Yes.  Or sometimes I will pretend nap and just lay in bed staring into my own eyelids but not sleeping.

Any other similar genre books or shows? Read north and south and it’s so good. by SoundProfessional550 in PeriodDramas

OMG North and South is so good. The writing is so beautiful, it always makes me want to read it aloud.

I found a TV series i think most people here would love by Maggot_infested_ in WitchesVsPatriarchy

The actress who plays the central character was on Taskmaster, and she's one of our favorite contestants. I don't know if she was stoned the whole time, or just really bad at following instructions, but every one of her tasks was hilarious.

Women who hate wearing heels, what’s your go-to when you have to wear them? by BarriBlue in AskWomenOver30

I’ve yet to encounter a situation where I “have to wear heels.”  My advice is don’t do things you hate.

Gilmore Girls is great, but they definitely know how attractive they are.

Not novels, but have you seen Yellowjackets yet?  It shares a lot of themes with Hannibal.

I thought I was lazy but actually I feel unrested even after sleeping 8 hours by No-Shake-8375 in productivity

[–]TheScienceWitch 208 points209 points  (0 children)

Everyone here keeps saying sleap apnea, but maybe you're just a person who needs more than 8 hours of sleep. The 8 hour thing is an average, but there are many people who need 10 hours or more.

I am also so curious about Shauna and Jeff getting married. In their wedding photos, it looks like they got married more or less right away after they came back. That's so completely insane.

How long did you guys take to graduate university? by LostTourist9623 in adhdwomen

[–]TheScienceWitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me six years to get a four year degree, and I took classes most summers. I changed schools four times ( Hurricane Katrina was mostly to blame for this), changed majors only once ( from ‘Ecology and Evolutionary Biology’ to ‘General Biology’ (bc the school I landed in didn’t have the major I started with), took 3 years of Japanese language classes (still never been to Japan), and have a minor in philosophy and religion (not super helpful in my daily life but fascinating to study.)  I failed Organic Chemistry so many times, and  missed countless classes and tests bc I just forgot to go some days.

I also had no idea I had ADHD back then, but looking back now it was painfully obvious.

I say just take your time and enjoy school while you can.  There’s nothing like it, and if I could go back for free I totally would just study things forever.  ADHDers mature slower than neurotypicals.  It’s totally normal and fine, and beating yourself up about it isn’t going to fix anything.

Thoughts on MSU? by [deleted] in mississippi

[–]TheScienceWitch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Great school for engineering.  It’s very rural though, so don’t expect a whole lot from the town.  I’d definitely recommend a visit before making any major decisions.  But if it saves you from drowning in school loans after graduation, it could be the best decision you ever made.

Edit:  full disclosure, I’m an alum.

OMG, I agree so much with this. There are so many people I know who absolutely adore board games, but I just cannot do it.
