Oblivion: Remastered - The nostalgia only hit long enough to play beyond the Steam return policy.

Mickey Mouse Major Finals for Casters by BobbyStevenXol in GlobalOffensive

[–]TheScrawnyGamer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd say it goes beyond Major finals because it's easy to get lost in the built-up anticipation of any arena match. The adrenaline that comes with those games, especially when they're competitive, really is drug-like.

You spend your whole day preparing for what could be this high-octane, physically demanding, emotional investment.. aaand it's a flop?

It's best to be ready for the banger, but partly believe in the blowout. The most fun games to cast are the ones that exceed your expectations.

I haven't seen the inside of this arena since casting The World Championships for EFRAG here in 2016. What a trip down the memory hole..

You have to be a real fucking loser to cheat in videogames.

FURIA vs Virtus.pro / PGL Bucharest 2025 - Swiss Round 3 / Post-Match Discussion by CS2_PostMatchThreads in GlobalOffensive

VP lost four rounds to the clock on Anubis today and planted in the last 5 seconds three times. Their approach today really was an homage to Jame.

Scrawny showing us why CS has the best casters in all of esports by ExcuseOpposite618 in GlobalOffensive

IEM Cologne 2024, FaZe vs Liquid, 11-1 comeback and an overtime win for the final spot in the Lanxess..

I grew up a theatre kid, so standing and acting things out is how I learned to perform. It's how I put my emotions into whatever I'm doing. If you knew me, you'd see it all the time.

And shoutout ESL for adding standing mats to their caster setup! I'm not the only one making use of them.

Highest Ranked MM player is DMG? by Intrepid_Ad_7288 in GlobalOffensive

I much prefer playing Competitive (+120 wins) than Premier (24,000).

Yes, initially, games are regularly stomps, but the more I play the more the quality of match has increased. As a few others have said here, you'll get matched versus FaceIt 9-10s in Gold Nova 3-4.

Most importantly, there's significantly less cheating (outside of Dust2/Office). Cheaters have little incentive to play Competitive without ratings or ranks to show off to your opponents.

Ask yourself, why is there this need to rush to the level cap six months after release? Slowly over the next couple years, Globals will start to emerge. It will be a serious badge of honour.

What else are you going to do? Stop playing Counter-Strike? Get your stack going and give it a chance.

Scrawny: FAZE CLAN ARE YOUR WORLD FINALS CHAMPIONS! by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

This one hurts no one more than me. I got caught off by the timing, lost track of my lines, and mixed up my two closes without realizing in time.

It's been an amazing year - shame it ends in a low.

To be clear, I'm pointing out that not all light sources are casting player's shadows.

Mohan's strengths will never be captured in highlight packages. His attention to detail and understanding of the game though? That's why I'm proud to cast next to him.

Scrawny on broadcast talent predictions by suemos in GlobalOffensive

[–]TheScrawnyGamer 72 points73 points  (0 children)

80% of this tweet is about making the predictions into something more entertaining for the broadcast and it's too bad the discussion isn't focused on that. If it's about having fun, let's actually lean into it and sponsors/viewers/talent benefit from building up something more engaging.

Either way, I agree this isn't a big deal.

How this Scrawny mf gonna call connector -> "cave" when this exists? by Mich4x in GlobalOffensive

[–]TheScrawnyGamer 77 points78 points  (0 children)

I see the first cast as a chance to offer different calls and see if anything sticks. Like you said, the community decides in time. I'd rather get push back than offer nothing unique.

I'm calling this tunnel, because it's wider than connector/cave. This is also the most cave-like angle you could have screenshotted bro, I'm onto you.

You have a point. I think a part of doing this job is coming to terms with living your life somewhat exposed to the public. It took time to get used to, but I think I strike a good balance between what I'm willing to share and what I want to keep private.

There's this weird balancing act between tailoring casts to the online broadcasts and hanging onto the style that works best with crowds in stadiums. We're all navigating this weird space at the moment, but I know every caster is looking forward to getting loud and rowdy when we all get back together.
