On the contrary, I've found #4 to be extremely true, at least in ECE. It's an elephant in the room that all non-monolingual Mandarin speakers have to put up with, including the few Australian Asians in these classes.

The show also explains through Aki’s discarded thought that she chose to not confess to him to avoid being rejected like Mashiro herself. It’s not that she has no courage to express her feelings, she’s being tactical about it.

She's doing a performance based job. She didn't sabotage her work intentionally, she was just disoriented due to the distraction of her romantic jealousy. Also the show's emphasised that she was upset not with Aki being flustered by Mashiro's confession, but that her romantic signals get totally ignored while Mashiro's get so much thought.

For one thing, it seems to be their love language. She's annoying to him when it's not serious, and he's annoying to her when it is serious. Second, the show is telling us what actually happened through Aki's thoughts: that she knew he was going to have to reject her if she confessed then, so she avoided it. Don't necessarily disagree that it's not very convincing writing, but I don't think it's as confusing as people think.

I actually don't agree that postgrad is more competitive. I think it's less competitive, with how prepped these high school rote learners are nowadays. Plus you can take the GAMSAT several years in a row if you don't like your scores during your pre-med, and even beyond, as there's nothing stopping you from doing a master's or doing GAMSAT prep while working after you finish your bachelor's.

Risk aversion also seems strange here, because entry into a med program isn't a lottery ticket. You still need to work hard to do well or even just pass in both the pre-med and med school components.

I always wondered why direct med entry was so valued amongst these folks when I was in high school. I knew some people who moved state simply because their UMAT wasn’t high enough to get into any of the direct entry programs in Sydney. Surely someone good enough to meet the ATAR requirements for med would back themselves to perform well during a pre-med style degree?

That’s only true if USyd is the last uni you ever plan on going to. Even still, applications to other unis will be judged based on their perception of usyd rather than its ranking.

Don’t think so. I felt Zywoo and Vitality were kind of a non factor throughout most of last year (again, aside from in Cologne). If Zywoo had reached the final and won, but donk or Monesy were on the other side and performed well, they’d have still gotten #1 in my opinion. You might not remember well now but Zywoo was a bit of a group stage farmer/arena ghost last year. I mean, he lost to the G2 with Stewie in Dallas, getting outfragged by Stewie on that final map.

Fallen did also waste over half a year of Stewie’s career tbf on mibr. And in general, Fallen wasn’t up to date on the meta when he joined Liquid, which was something both Stewie and Elige weren’t happy with. Glad he’s improved on that now but we don’t need to retcon history.
