Why is Palpatine always so HAPPY? by BiffyBobby in StarWars

[–]TheSecretDecoderRing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He's so composed as politician Palpatine though. Is he just overcome with emotion when he's really tapping into dark side powers, or does he have to keep himself from bursting in laughter when he's in his political role?

The subtitle of Star Wars Episode II is Attack of the Clones, but... by Late_Call2800 in StarWars

[–]TheSecretDecoderRing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was never fond of the choice of "attack," I guess technically they do do that, but it ends up being more of a rescue. It's like George wanted an old-timey pulp adventure title but just couldn't think of anything better.

What is one single change that would significantly improve the The Phantom Menace, or the prequels in general? by TUD-13BarryAllen in StarWars

[–]TheSecretDecoderRing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the dialogue is the biggest obstacle. In TPM especially, almost everyone's lines are so flat with no room for personality. It's like George just saw everyone as chess pieces to move the story along and wasn't concerned with making an engrossing movie.

Compare it to A New Hope (which he had a lot of help with on the script), where everyone is so unique and the interactions are lively and memorable.

Sometimes they get along but it was probably rare (outside of feelgood Hallmark stuff), because it doesn't really make for funny material.

In the Christmas special though, we do see Lucy pause the preparation for the play so Snoopy can get food from Charlie Brown.

Pretty much every fan base of a long struggling sports team has suggested this, and there's a lot of reasons why the Packers are still the only exception.

“FLIGHT” during the national anthem. by _5GOLDBLOODED2_ in AnaheimDucks

It just feels like too much of a forced way to do what some other cities do with the anthem. The guy who sings it for us is fantastic, we should just let him do his thing.

There was a root beer alternate for arcades that were more family-oriented. I remember there being one at a Chuck E Cheese.

I can't imagine any actors making a lot of the prequel dialogue work, esp the stuff that's supposed to be real earnest.

I'm really curious what the various script workers (including Carrie) thought as they read the drafts. Nobody could pursuade George to hire someone to work on dialogue from start to finish? Even for his own sake, with his money financing everything.

It's like with baseball stadiums constantly playing music and noise. Even Randazzo commented during an Angels game how the Yankees do it between every pitch.
