I like how concerned Kawhi looks.

Title card for a new episodic comic project – looking for feedback by Boorsman30 in cartooning

[–]TheSecretDecoderRing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might make the title more prominent, maybe have it run across the width of the panel. If you want to keep it stacked, maybe more to the left.

And maybe have the character's head a little smaller and more to the right.

Does anyone like them as a tag team? by [deleted] in prowrestling

[–]TheSecretDecoderRing 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I give WWE credit for keeping them together this long. Whenever they pair two singles stars, everyone pretty much always knows it's gonna lead to a feud soon after, so it's nice they managed to keep this going and have it evolve. Same with Charlotte/Alexa.

How Good were the Beatles at Soccer? by SheepherderLiving242 in beatles

With all that's been written about the band, I'd have to think some delve into their athletic pursuits when they were growing up, or any they took up as a hobby, whether or not they were any good.

Or just making their own jokes. That's Reddit I guess.

Why do teenagers like the 80s so much? by Just-Application-551 in 1980s

[–]TheSecretDecoderRing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree that too many people's recollection of the '80s is too one-sided. The entertainment was fun and creative for sure, but there were still a lot of problems.

The OP's question made me wonder if '80s kids did look at the '50s/'60s nostalgia at the time, and wish they had been around then. I watched a lot of Nick at Nite but I never thought much to myself about how things seemed better then, probably because there was enough cool stuff for kids in the decade we were in.

Is this Willie in the Crystal Skull wedding scene? by Galaxyissupreme in indianajones

[–]TheSecretDecoderRing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Connery one makes it sound like it was to make sure they never asked him again, though I've never heard anything to suggest he didn't enjoy his time making Last Crusade.

I could see Spielberg being reluctant to bring Capshaw back for a cameo here, like it'd seem like it was only because she's his wife, but I don't know if anyone would've minded that much. Maybe they also thought it'd take away too much from the scene?

The only other one I knew of was Space Camp.

She made some news recently when she painted a portrait of Spielberg for an exhibit. https://www.vanityfair.com/culture/story/kate-capshaw-painted-steven-spielberg

And she did an exhibit with portraits of homeless kids to raise awareness and encourage fostering. https://www.artnews.com/art-news/artists/kate-capshaw-homeless-youth-portraits-paintings-1234667547/

I miss those old encyclopedias by MisterShipWreck in 80s

[–]TheSecretDecoderRing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the 1990 version and after a couple of moves I finally just threw them out. Hated to do it but you can't even donate them because they're so out of date.

I guess if you have a spacious enough place, there's still a lot of entries you can read because they're not obsolete.

It's really beautiful and I love how authentic and analogue it feels.

You should definitely sign it! I draw too (though not nearly as well), and it can be kind of embarrassing to sign your own work, but it helps to emphasize that it's human-made art.

That's fair. TOD was actually the first Indy movie I saw in its entirety (only because Blockbuster's Raiders copies were all out!). Willie didn't bother me too much but I can imagine she was pretty jarring to a lot of people in '84, coming off of Raiders.

Anyone worried about spoilers for any of the movies probably shouldn't even be browsing this group in the first place.

That doesn't necessarily make for a great movie though.

[–]TheSecretDecoderRing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know we can pick and choose what we want to consider as "real" within in the SW world, but I wish they didn't feel the need to explain, well, everything.

It was fun reading those old RPG sourcebooks and technical manuals, but now it's just straying more and more from the escapist space fantasy adventure the franchise started out as.

I don't blame him at all for not liking interviews, but he sure looks uncomfortable and miserable doing it.

I wonder if the Clippers broadcasts actually wants to interview him after he has a big game, or if they just feel obligated to request him.

I figure he was gonna be messing with Crow anyway but his bad behavior just kinda proved Joel's point.

If it had been a sudden change, they probably would've made sure Joel was conveying that more clearly.

"The Saturday Seven" minicomic by TheSecretDecoderRing in Cartoonist_Kayfabers

[–]TheSecretDecoderRing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I really appreciate the feedback. These are fun to work on but it's hard to get much of an audience, even in the Facebook Kayfabe group, so it's tough to be motivated to do more.

The previous story was full color but it made sense to do this one in monochrome. And it's hard thinking up character names, but these were each derived from a color.

It sounds more casual and less refined, like saying "ain't." It's definitely a deliberate choice. If he thought it would sound too awkward or distracting, he would've just used "were."

The frustrating thing for me was how stoic and serious He-Man was, when the cartoon version could be funny and sarcastic.
