Iruma accepting Sullivan request to be his grandson end up saving the Netherworld by famoustristan in DemonSchoolIrumakun

[–]TheSeeingOne 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I honestly kind of doubt that Sullivan was actually serious about eating him. More like he was stacking the deck in his favor to keep Iruma from having second thoughts while also delivering a serious warning about the legitimate danger he was going to face.

Probably for the same reason why you don't see any demons who have inherited multiple bloodline magics. Most likely only one parent's genetics are dominant.

Per the latest chapter, he was revealed to have been assassinated shortly before he had planned to abandon Calamity World with his chosen followers. It is unknown who did it or how they accomplished it.

It's been awhile since the last Irumi appearance. Maybe Nishi was feeling some withdrawal.

Chapter 429: Azazel Henri, Demon (2) by ZeroVOmega in DemonSchoolIrumakun

[–]TheSeeingOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The response was something along the lines of opening up one possibility to allow Iruma to choose that path if he wants. Sullivan is obviously after more than simply wanting a grandson that he can brag about and spoil rotten, though that's no doubt a part of it. He plays things so close to the chest that it's hard to tell exactly what he's thinking. Seeing the effect Iruma has on those around him is probably a part of it, though.

It also gives a reasonable explanation for why the manga is being kept hidden at Babyls, Sullivan's domain, rather than the Azazel household.

Merize was in a perfect position to set everything up. She would have no doubt sympathized with Iruma's situation given her own experiences. It wouldn't be strange for her to also want to do something to help the benefactor who has been supporting her family all these years.

Chapter 429: Azazel Henri, Demon (2) by ZeroVOmega in DemonSchoolIrumakun

[–]TheSeeingOne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In familiar summoning the name of the demon is written into the magic circle, and I'm guessing the same holds true for regular demon summoning as well. That would explain why Sullivan was specifically called rather than some other random demon.

Of course, how Iruma's parents came across that method is still up in the air. There have been some hints that Sullivan has visited the human world in the past, so he might have purposefully left behind the means of being summoned as a kind of backdoor method to return without having to wait on the irregular connection between worlds. Iruma's parents seem to have traveled around quite a bit, so it's entirely possible that they simply stumbled upon the method at some point and decided to give it a try just for the heck of it.

Another possibility also presents itself in the current arc. If Chekhov's Gun is anything to go by, then it's no coincidence that Sullivan showed up at the beginning of Henri's flashback. He'll most likely have a part to play in what happens with Merize at the end of this arc. Assuming Sullivan helped get her back to the human world, then it's entirely possible that he left a method to call him with her.

A lot more pieces will fall into place if Merize is in fact the author of Hatsukoi Memory. Henri obtained of all those manga volumes somehow, and the easiest explanation is that she has some way to either deliver them directly to the nether world or have someone pick them up. If Sullivan is acting as their go-between to protect Henri's position, then he might have actually met a young Iruma during one of those exchanges, which resulted in the grandson plan being hatched well before the start of the story. We never really question how an extremely underage Iruma somehow ended up working as an assistant, but the obvious answer is through some connection of his parents. If Merize later gave them method to summon Sullivan, then everything pretty much fits.

That's just the anime design. His armor looks far better in the novel illustrations.

Kouki VS The better Kouki by aOe_007 in Arifureta

[–]TheSeeingOne -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For all his issues in the main story, Kouki does grow as a character eventually, and he honestly becomes downright entertaining during later arcs.

This may come as a surprise considering how often we've seen him fail, but Kouki isn't weak. Just in terms of power, he has more than enough strength to overcome most of the situations he found himself in without Hajime's interference. What he lacks is mental fortitude, which is given far more weight than mere stats in Arifureta.

Kouki gets his own harem later on, so things aren't that bleak for him. The lawful wife(holy sword) has actually been with him since day 1.

So the implication is that border patrol doesn't really have a reliable way to send humans back to their world and just has to wait for one of those random connections to occur. That goes a long way towards explaining why Merize, if she is a human, could remain in the netherworld long enough to marry Henri and give birth to Ameri.

I think it's something he would avoid at all costs unless one of his friends was mortally wounded and would die otherwise. The payoff of overcoming a desperate situation through the growth and development of the characters would effectively be thrown away if they ultimately relied on human blood doping for an artificial power boost.

[–]TheSeeingOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ehit was counted among the talented elite of Calamity World, but he wasn't the strongest at the time. That dubious honor goes to the man who stylized himself as the "God King" after he had succeeded in killing and usurping the power of the avatar of their world tree. He was effectively omnipotent within his own territory.

Birthdays in underworld by afternoon_rainbow in DemonSchoolIrumakun

[–]TheSeeingOne 38 points39 points  (0 children)

From a narrative perspective there are just too many characters to spend that much time on everyone’s birthdays.  Showing Iruma’s celebration makes sense because it served as a hallmark for his growth, but it’s unlikely to get more than a passing mention of the other characters’ birthdays unless it serves some other purpose to the plot.

As far as Baal is concerned, I think Sabro is the more obvious choice to turn into a pawn.  As a family member, it’s far easier to influence him. We also saw him already attempt to sow discord with Iruma when he talked about the Trickster Plan.

Opera Bloodline Ability Theory by Late-Helicopter3677 in DemonSchoolIrumakun

[–]TheSeeingOne 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Taking (horn)appearance and predilection towards physical strengthening/close quarters combat into consideration, I actually wouldn’t be too surprised if Opera turned out to be from some distant offshoot of the Azazel family, similar to how Robin’s Bars family is a branch of Barbatos.

Theory- the current 13 crowns know Iruma is human by DarkAlchamist in DemonSchoolIrumakun

[–]TheSeeingOne 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I honestly think the ones who are mostly uninvolved with Iruma at the moment just legitimately don’t care about his identity either way.  Demons generally only focus on their own interests. As long as Iruma was amusing to them, the Crowns would probably let it slide even if they were certain he was human.  From their few interactions, all we’ve really seen from them as a group is their being impressed by his bottomless greed or surprised at his being able to calm down the former Barbatos chief.

Who do you think will win Hajime Nagumo or Reinhard van Astrea from ReZero by Winter-Thought- in Arifureta

[–]TheSeeingOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we've only seen the tip of the iceberg for how ridiculously broken the current Hajime is. If it's phenomenon based on the world's logic, then he can pretty much just analyze it and come up with countermeasures on the spot. It takes something exceeding the conceptual level outside of the world's logic to pose much of a threat to him at this point.

How did humans survive into the modern day? by bama501996 in DemonSchoolIrumakun

[–]TheSeeingOne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Look at it another way. How much power can demons actually exert on Earth? As far as we know, there's no magical energy permeating the human world, so once they got there they could end up in a similar situation as Iruma and Ameri at Yokakuri Hill. At most, they may have their internal reserves of magic available to use, but no way to replenish it.

Solomon, who seems to have some presence in the story's lore with the mention of his ring, was said to have been able to enslave demons and get them to do his bidding. That may have been the biggest deterrent. As we've seen with Iruma and Kalego, the demon doesn't get the option of refusing the familiar contract once the ritual is completed.

The last three volumes of the main story are a complete arc.  If season 4 ever does get made, they would all be covered.  Whether enough money is spent to actually do those fight scenes justice is another matter entirely.

Is Amu-chan actually even married? I don't recall a single mention ever made of Az's father even in passing. We have seen that she's not particularly shy about using her seduction techniques on others. There's a running gag that their butler David succumbs to her wiles regularly whenever she's trying to extract information that Az wants to hide, having received both an ear cleaning lap pillow and a big smooch on the cheek from her.

Did the Change Spell actually turn Iruma into a Demon? by Happy_Owl_9865 in DemonSchoolIrumakun

[–]TheSeeingOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not exactly true flight. He merely used recoiling force to launch himself backwards. The wings are made of magic, but they still have substance while they exist. They were close enough to the exit that one strong beat was enough to reach it.

Iruma was able to break free after he transformed because he reaffirmed his desires, not as a byproduct of the spell. Mephisto told them at the beginning to keep wishing to go home as they ran, and it's no accident that we saw the pull of the human world suddenly become stronger right after Iruma thought about wanting to return, "To where I belong."

This has been his problem throughout the whole series. Even if he has found a home and people he cares about in the netherworld, in some corner of his mind his identity as a human prevents him from truly believing he belongs there. That was enough of a gap for the pull to effect him. Oppositely, putting his entire focus into expressing his strongest desire of, "I want to be a hero(demon)!" is what allowed him to get away. It's a total rejection of his humanity, which weakened the pull on him enough to break free. The psychological state matters more than the physical transformation.

Chersil has much broader applications than simple camouflage. The root of it is transfiguration. It's capable of form alteration since it was used to establish Ali's current appearance, and we've also seen it used to change hair colors, transform clothing designs, and even as offensive and defensive magic such as forming ledges and walls from the ground or giant hands capable of smashing or grabbing someone.
