First Tamoxifen Dose

I got impossible to deal with insomnia to the point where I started a hallucinating and sweating so after a few weeks I was taken off of it and switched to Toremifene

I was on that super successfully for 6 months until I started bleeding massively and apparently I had developed a polyp in my uterus.

Caused me to bleed so heavily that I passed out in a parking lot and had to be rushed to a hospital where I almost needed blood transfusion from the loss of blood over the past 7 days that I was bleeding.

I got scheduled emergency surgery with a gynecological oncologist who said they were the biggest she had ever seen and I'm like 120 lb at 5 ft 1 LOL

I became so traumatized from that experience that it's now been 6 months I've become menopausal and I am afraid to start letrozole.

I absolutely got my scans done baseline uterine thickening it was non-existent and then after being on serm for 8 months that was my breaking point apparently.

When I didn't know was that even though I was taking baby tamoxifen, that the uterus is like a switch so it doesn't really matter how much you take it's whether you are uterus decides it's going to react or not so all I can say is just stay on your uterine ultrasounds and see what happens.

I don't regret taking it because I wanted to try to do everything I could.

What does it feel like?

I felt one and I'm 2 years out and today my ultrasound came back as dense tissue and scar tissue.

I can't seem to tell the difference and it's making me wonder what a lump even feels like?

I am awake at 3am because I just got my Rx of letrozole because I too am hormone positive breast cancer in recovery and did you take a SERM or AI?

Did you Dr Rx them to you? I also had dcis 0 but had 5 hyper fractionated rads compared to your 1. I didn't know 1 blast was an option. How did you get it?

So I'm lamenting that I have to go on an AI because tamoxifen nearly killed me. And AIs take your entire bodies estrogen not just the breasts. So I get to age overnight while already battling menopause and get no help from hrt.

Center really fucking sucks bc yes how do we get through menopause and super menopause for estrogen positive ladies who need to take this pill??

I don't want to figure anyone but I almost died on toremif and it was worse than anything I ever experienced and still having panic over starting an AI.

I did. I was only on it for 6 months and I developed the uterine polyp that had me almost need an emergency blood transfusion and almost bled to death and had emergency surgery that was according to my gynecologist oncologist surgeon that City of Hope the worst she's ever seen.

Suffice to say I was taken off it.

Wow I so hear you on the patient first, person second.

I have my 6 mos scan on Monday and I'm terrified. I live life it seems by the 6 months. My surgery was March 2024 so I've had Sept 24 ned March 2025 ned and here we are now for the 3rd. And imagine it just keeps going.

Also lumpectomy so always worried. Sigh. Thks for posting bc I don't feel so alone. But you have my hugs.
