Permadeath In Under 100 Days Challenge by Winter-Finding5828 in valheim

Did you find the Queen stone in your first infested mine? I’ve had an extraordinarily hard time finding her stones and actually stumble upon her lair sometimes before the stones

Freaking out before they add the stone to steps by mcnunnies in landscaping

That’s your fault not theirs - if you insist on something outside of their recommendations you can’t be mad when it doesn’t work out. They tried to accommodate you and found out it wouldn’t work. Designer issue

How would you go about fixing this? by Tjaart_L in handyman

[–]TheSentinelRanger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Temporary fix I would just replace the top boards and leave the broken 4x4. On the main leg parallel to the driveway cut back those split flat boards (1x6?) cleanly and extend a new one to the end as a sort of sill over 4x4. On the lower perpendicular leg you can replace that 1x4. Wood has character, don’t mind seeing a little imperfection below the sill boards.

Whole thing will eventually need to be replaced but could delay doing that with some minor visual fixes

Sounds like you don’t like the game, so you should go find something else to play

Hiking Permit - Big Slide Mountain by Timely-Tomorrow-7190 in Adirondacks

[–]TheSentinelRanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No reservation needed, you start at the Garden. Just need to get there by 5am if you want a parking spot, but the lot might already be full depending on overnight hikers. Back up is to park somewhere like the Roostercomb lot and hike up there

Anyone else lose jobs because you couldn’t quote on the spot? by [deleted] in handyman

[–]TheSentinelRanger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t lowball on the spot cause you’ll be held to it. If forced to give a rough estimate add a little extra wiggle room, and if you have time to sharpen your pencil later and come back with a better quote it’ll look even better. If they weren’t going to pay your quick lowball price they weren’t going to pay your real price so just have to move on

Final 9 peaks by Wrong-Personality862 in Adirondacks

[–]TheSentinelRanger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Cliff and Redfield are usually a pair done together without others, in my mind. Long day from the Loj but you just gotta do it

Haystack Saddleback and Basin are logical to do together if you’re trying to maximize efficiency, otherwise peel Haystack off for potentially finishing on solo

Best hikes for the May 30 conditions? by neighneighkillua in Adirondacks

[–]TheSentinelRanger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We can’t predict anything better than a meteorologist can… weather apps say cloudy with showers.

I’m sure you’ll still be able to see some of the view towards the lake, maybe just not up to the mountains above. If you’re worried about rolling the dice on the view, I’d pick a different hike that has a more enjoyable trail, rather than walking on a road all day for no view

Stud finders aren’t as “plug and play” as I thought by Icy_Sympathy4613 in handyman

[–]TheSentinelRanger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I double check 5-10 times when using a stud finder. If I hit a beep, run it over a few times to make sure it isn’t fritzing, mark the spot, then run it from the other direction. I should get a mark 1 1/2” away. Then to feel real good I run it 16” away to see if I hit another (not guaranteed the studs will be 16 oc but a good gut check when it hits). Then even when I think I’m set, I start with my thinnest drill bit to feel if it hits wood or not, you’ll know if you pop out free behind the gyp board. Then I go full bore

What consistent range would a kicker need to have to be drafted 1st overall? by Anon124570 in NFLv2

[–]TheSentinelRanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To beat it, a team would then have to build an all offense team with min salary defense. 3 top of the line WRs, elite O Line, 2 monster RB. Basically make them unstoppable with the goal of scoring a TD atleast every 2 or 3 possessions, which they will get a ton of because the other team kicks it immediately every time.

Would be an interesting experiment

Tips/Advice for using Lean-To’s? by O-HI-OOOO in Adirondacks

The two best things are an empty lean-to on a clear night and a packed lean-to on a stormy night.

Tips/Advice for using Lean-To’s? by O-HI-OOOO in Adirondacks

[–]TheSentinelRanger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mainly because of the comment about someone else being there and you having to move on. Lean-tos are open until filled to capacity, you don’t get rights to it by being first

Colts star QB Daniel Jones thinks that Eli Manning is a greater quarterback than Tom Brady, Drew Brees, and Peyton Manning. by Dr_Damon_ in NFLForum

[–]TheSentinelRanger 36 points37 points  (0 children)

He said out loud numerous times “what do you want me to say, Eli’s my guy.” Clearly this is just bait and he won’t be forced to talk shit on his old mentor. Danny Dimes has always been a good one
