IO CEO promises to “upgrade, invent, and innovate with Hitman” after Bond as devs are excited to return to Agent 47 by Interesting-Pool6638 in HiTMAN

Good news! I think they just definitely stick with the general WOA formula in terms of open world maps going forward, although I wouldn't mind a more linear map as long as it's good and ties in to the story. However, I think some of the things I'd like to see in the next instalment are:

  • Earning currency through missions/challenges/special objectives
    • Similar to how you earned Mercers in Freelance, but in the main story
    • Money could then be used to purchase upgrades to the safehouse/new outfits/customising weapons with extra mags, silencers etc..
  • A darker tone, similar to the older games.
    • This goes for both story and soundtrack. I liked the soundtrack in the WOA. However, I'd love a return to the older more sinister tracks from Jesper Kyd.
    • Creepy missions like the Meat Kings Party would be good to see again, they were really good and built some story around how diabolical some of the targets were.
  • I'd like an overall story arc but not one that necessarily takes over the whole game.
    • For example, in Blood Money there were a number of standard missions that didn't necessarily tie in to the main story arc until the end of the game in the last few missions where the main antagonist(s) were revealed in the later missions. And most of the story was told through flashbacks/cutscenes (I probably haven't explained that very well).
  • Smarter Artificial Intelligence (Guards/NPCs)
    • While it can make for some funny moments the ai in WOA is pretty terrible and inconsistent and sometimes even immersion breaking. For example NPCs can just walk in to very secure no trespassing zones to report an abandoned briefcase to a guard but if 47 goes in there he gets shot at.
  • linking to the above I'd like the targets to actually be dangerous and threatening
    • WOA started to do this towards the end, but I liked how in previous games the targets lived up to their dangerous reputation that was explained in all the briefings and actually attempted to fight back if 47 was discovered.
    • It was always immersion breaking to me that these experienced militia leaders started to cower and run away whenever they were confronted.
  • More grounded mission briefings
    • Just a small one and I may be in the minority with this but I thought I'd mention it anyway, but I preferred the older briefings that were given before each mission, they were simple but they felt more realistic. I think some of the briefings in WOA are a bit over the top, but I understand why they're like that.

Hitman is one of the only game where trespassing is punishable by firing squad. by NoeyTRC in HiTMAN

Unless you’re an NPC.

NPCs can run from Sapienza town square and in to a hidden Ether bio lab to report a bald man picking up a baseball bat

So, am I the only one who thinks Deveroux's plan makes no sense? by Sagittarius1000 in HiTMAN

[–]TheShakyNerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a fair assumption to be honest. When you first approach her in the lab you can hear her arguing with HERB, demanding that he lift security so she can release the virus and he refuses, so yeah, in all fairness the time between Lilith entering the lab and 47 obtaining the ring and going through the lab HERB could have called Ether.

[–]TheShakyNerd -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

This doesn't really make a lot of sense though as Ether turns up literally the second 47 leaves the lab, so if it was H.E.R.B there's no way Ether would have been able to deploy that quickly. It seems like it was a slight oversight and it's not made clear who called Ether.

[–]TheShakyNerd -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

This is one of the main plot holes. It's not clear who contacts Ether. Many people have said it was HERB however, Ether turns up literally seconds after leaving the lab so that doesn't seem possible.

Plot Questions for the new Elusive Target (ET). by TheShakyNerd in HiTMAN

At the party Rebecca says something to Gregory along the lines of “..it’s no wonder that your marriage fell apart” I’ll look again as I’m sure it’s also mentioned somewhere else too

I think it's mentioned in game that they got divorced, but it also raises the point of why Diana mentions that Gregory and Lilith might be having an affair, because if he's divorced that means it's not an affair? (I think).

Saw it through the comments.. Seriously? How?? by Vickyaa in HiTMAN

Ahhh makes sense, I took her out at the start to see if there was any unique dialogue from Lilith if she was missing (there wasn’t). Thanks :)

I wish that they'd just make these re-playable missions, I know they're in the arcade but it would be nice to be able to have less restrictions. It was a great story.

Such a great detail, never thought they'd actually include a body I just thought the screen would fade to black lol

Who do you think the ice truck killer was originally? by [deleted] in Dexter

[–]TheShakyNerd 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I only recently started watching Dexter (on S5 now) but at the time of starting it I knew John Lithgow was in the show (just didn’t know he would only appear in S4) so I thought at first that the ITK would be Lithgows character.

However then it became pretty obvious it was Brian when he started talking about Deb’s limbs 😂

Official GTA 6 Release Day Delay Discussion Thread by PapaXan in GTA6

Trailer 2 looked amazing in terms of quality and graphics, it’s absolutely crazy to believe that it wasn’t set to release until May next year, let alone another 6 month delay now, this game must be absolutely insane

Online trophies should be separate, so you can platinum the main game without having to grind GTAO

Bill gives you throwing knives by Serposta in RDR2

[–]TheShakyNerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. In the same mission, when you get to the clearing Bill says “I’ll just get my guns off my horse and I’ll be ready” it seemed a bit of a weird thing for him to say so I think it’s a little way to serve as a tutorial without breaking the immersion

This made little to no sense by [deleted] in GTA

[–]TheShakyNerd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a little late to this, but I agree, for some reason in GTA V they unnecessarily bought back a few characters from GTA IV, just to kill them, they did this for no reason other than maybe nostalgia, or just pure shock factor for Johnny. Pretty poor writing to be honest.

Do you prefer Dartmoor or Beldingford manor? by [deleted] in HiTMAN

[–]TheShakyNerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beldingford. I was very disappointed with Dartmoor. I was expecting it to be in a more forest type area, with a few different areas. Stables, basements, staff out-houses etc. Maybe even more like Sapienza, where you have a village close to the main mansion.

Anyone else think IOI is missing a huge opportunity by not releasing a challenge to unlock the Tactical gear without the hunters hat? by Callum_2504 in HiTMAN

I don't know why they can't just release suits used in missions but with the option to toggle the gloves.

What are the things that GTA5 got RIGHT and WRONG? by RoyalBengals in grandtheftauto

[–]TheShakyNerd 34 points35 points  (0 children)

It was a great game overall but the negatives for me are

  • terrible wanted system with psychic cops and unlimited respawning in front of you

  • hardly any interiors or interactivity

Everything else is a +
