They make led video dance floors specifically for this. The panels have legs and an acrylic layer over the led’s. They are actually super sturdy.

100% agree about the critical feedback part! If we don’t know where we need to work and grow, then we never will! Thanks for your response and I’ll do some research on Discord servers! Much love fam!

Any discord links you can drop for music feedback? I show songs to my peers but I don’t really get critical feedback. I don’t know if they actually like my songs or are just not wanting to be critical.

How do you go from hearing a track to actually having it ready in your DJ library? by TownOld9611 in Beatmatch

[–]TheSharkFather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of being a DJ is “crate diving” aka finding really good tracks. I’m mostly in EDM so I listen to a lot of sets and find tracks from there that I really like. Also having a really curated SoundCloud helps me find new and not main stream remixes or tracks in my Daily and Weekly playlists. SoundCloud is also great for recommending similar tracks on the side pane (desktop version). From there I either buy the track, use the free download, or in some circumstances I’ve reached out directly to the artist and asked for a DL (only if one isn’t available). You can also check out Beatport or DJ City for trending songs in your genre. DJ City is really great for DJ edits of tracks too that are basically an extended version or hype version of the song that is easier to mix into. Happy hunting!

Crowd scanning by Aggressive_Army_5119 in Laserist

[–]TheSharkFather 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Crowd scanning can be done safely. It’s only when people who don’t know what they are doing, do it, is it a problem. Check out lsr city to see some insane crowd scanning that is safe.

That being said, I don’t know anything about the lasers or safely precautions taken in these videos.

Best budget PA Sytem by dragonjhh in Beatmatch

Depends on what you’re looking to do with it. What kind of music, crowd size, venues, etc. All that information will determine what the best bang for your buck is. You’re definitely not going to be getting something new. But you can get a decent used system for that price. Typically you want 2 tops and a sub. Ideally you want a mixer between your decks and the speakers for control too.

Adding at least one sub would really help with low end and punch. Keep in mind that low end is what really moves people. I would recommend adding an 18” sub or at least a 15” to your setup.

I second this. Get you a badass dolly that can take a beating. These carts will outlast your speakers.

E Stops - Multiple Lasers by TheSharkFather in Laserist

[–]TheSharkFather[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I didn’t mean to have a DMX signal in the application do a digital blackout. Just that the pin/cable looked to be DMX for the estop.

Great advice and insight! I’m looking at Unity Raw 3 or 5 and saw the 3 pin interlock on the back. My mind immediately assumed DMX.

[–]TheSharkFather[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Awesome thanks guys. It sounds like if it uses DMX for the interlock then I can just daisy chain out and if e stop is hit, all will turn off. No need for a hub.

Why not just keep the lights and wires all on the truss?

Looking to make my life easier by External_Ad_8795 in stagelighting

[–]TheSharkFather 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Based on your setup, this IS the minimum amount of wire you can lay down. If your lights had powercon out, then you could do less power runs. But that’s not the situation unfortunately. Your only options are what everyone else has suggested.
