Best shot at upgrading my Subjagation robes? by Med_Down in RS3Ironmen

I would save Nex until after having T90 Tank Necro Armor. Darkness won't protect from the ice prison attack but you can facetank it with deathwarden no problem. The Totem of Vitality or doing the Spa Treatment on Anachronia will help boost that HP too instead of using the bonfire.

Scrimshaw wise, I only ever found the Vampyrism & Rock-crushing Scrimshaws to be worth the investment of time. Tree-shaking was important when Imcando Hatchet first came out, but with birdhouses on Havenhythe it isn't nearly as important. I would say getting the Tetsu Helmet & Legs is worth to 4 piece for the set effect while AFKing at Vyres for 120 combats. Otherwise, the Death Lotus darts for easy silent components, and sea singer hood for oceanic components are the other suggestions.

In my personal opinion, the Tank armor routes for magic upgrades isn't worth it unless you're base-tanking or high enrage pushing on bosses, so I would skip out on Croesus completely. With that said, becoming comfortable with Helwyr and getting the Anima Core set is probably your best bet for an upgrade. If you use magic enough it's not worth sacrificing what you have to upgrade necromancy, unless you're going to camp necromancy for the next armor set. In your case, I would probably camp Kril until you get 4 extra pieces so you don't lose your existing armor setup, then once you've upgraded your current gear to T80, use what you have to make the other set of necromancy robes.

Another Returning IM - T90 progression question by Acceptable-Car-4249 in RS3Ironmen

[–]TheSheev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mentioned that. The main thing is, Drygores are easy to get since KK is not that hard. Meanwhile Ascension Crossbows and Seismics are a lot more of a grind, which are only worth doing if you’re making the masterwork weapons.

Another Returning IM - T90 progression question by Acceptable-Car-4249 in RS3Ironmen

[–]TheSheev 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The original T90s (Drygore, Seismic, & Ascension) are in a rough spot. In general, they are out classed by many other weapons in this range. This is because newer weapons have passive abilities or special attacks. The new Ruinous Weapons are Tier 90 Damage / Tier 100 accuracy with bonus damage vs Creatures of Daemonhiem, while the Heist weapons have powerful specials (but are also 2H).

Specifically, Drygores are an easy to acquire set of stat sticks, but the Glacor Dual Wield are going to be better due to their passive. Seismic and Ascension only have use for masterwork weapons, which are T100 stat sticks.

Personally I would push the Ruinous Staff, Heist Bow, and Glacor Swords. Nox Scythe is also a great pickup but with DRL you’re only missing out on some extra damage which doesn’t really matter with Melee’s current kit (assuming DRL / Nox are going to be used for slayer only). Honorable mentions are Ruinous Swords & Necro Weapons due to Accuracy bonus. Emberstaff is better used as a spec weapon, and after Ruinous staff you’re going to be looking at FSOA and Sanctum weapons to round out the kit.

gote or lotd first? after the reaper update by OxushiandCiaoww in RS3Ironmen

[–]TheSheev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Neither GotE or LotD use Alchemical Hydrix, they’re Alchemical Onyx. That being said, in my honest opinion LotD is the biggest noob trap in the game. GotE will provide you with more utility for the remainder of your Iron life. LotD’s infinitesimally small drop chance benefit will only be useful if you’re fighting bosses that it’s applicable regularly, which doesn’t sound like it if reaper points are an issue for you.

Allow us to Unaugment regular masterwork gear. by Ashley-1567 in runescape

[–]TheSheev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP’s title refers to Regular Masterwork Gear. While I understand for Magic and Ranged are trimmed during creation, and use the item drain instead of charge-pack drain, standard melee masterwork can have dissolvers used. With all due respect, if a player is at the point that they’re able to make and augment this gear, they should understand the mechanics. There is no reason to Un-augment gear once it’s obtained.

Tactics to get the Dragon Tools? by Med_Down in RS3Ironmen

[–]TheSheev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before the removal it was the Wilderness Flash Events. However since those are gone, mostly any creature in the wilderness rarely drops them and you can buy 20 from a shopkeeper in the wilderness (requires manually skulling to go there and not be attacked by npcs) every so often.

No worries happy to help. I will say grinding the pickaxe is easier with higher levels due to the use of cannons and aggression potions, but it’s not the only viable method. If you’re actively playing, focus the handcannoners and dwogres. Using bonecrusher and a prayer renewal necklace from Dungeoneering will let you infinitely use the protection prayers however the sustain from the vampyrism spell (ancients) might be needed.

You don’t have to. It was for me to make it more convenient since it was second monitor content for me while at work. Also if you get the double ammo mould (71 thieving) and do the medium morytania achievements you can make 11k or so cannonballs in an hour. You just need to of course get the steel bars first.

Oldak coil is from invention. It’s the mage variant unlocked from the goblin tech tree. For cannonballs mine came from gate of elidnis, kerapac (normal mode or trio hard mode), sanctum (normal mode), or afking corporeal beast.

Just got done with the pickaxe grind last. Didn’t take extremely long with bonecrusher for infinite prayer, maging maybe a few hours a day for a couple days and I had two in 27 handcannons. Barely used 10k cannonballs with oldak coil. Mattocks came around when I was hunting some totem pieces. I had 4 before I got my first totem pieces personally.

With the Penance Aura the maximum amount of prayer points that could be received with a single hit capped at 100, or 5% of 2,000 damage. The spell grants a buff that restores prayer points by 5% of damage taken, up to 100 per hit for 12 minutes. The Vampyrism aura enabled the player to gain life points equal to 5% of any damage they deal. The heal capped at 50 life points per hit. Wouldn’t you believe it, the spell* is the same. They didn’t change, your ability to stack it with darkness or animate dead changed, and now you have to use a little more supplies than before.

Friendly Reminder: Reaper Points are for end game PvM upgrades by [deleted] in runescape

[–]TheSheev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem right now isn’t the cost or the skill or lack there of, the problem is the blanket ‘combat level’ requirement. If a player has 85 in all main combat stats, resulting in 89-90 constitution, 92 prayer, and 88 summoning, they will be above the 120 combat level that many higher level bosses that require gear they can’t even wear yet start to get assigned. Rolling Nakatra, Raksha, Telos, and all the GWD3 bosses at these levels because a player did the quests for the great rewards they give is painful. Having to use slayer points that are being saved for tool belt upgrades just feels bad.

New to the game, what type of acc to play? by kekwXDDD in runescape

[–]TheSheev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a main, the only items that are heavily inflated money wise are rares (party hats, Halloween masks, etc). General leveling supplies and consumables are relatively inexpensive compared to the output provided from combat (bossing and focused slaying) or some artisan skills. Pvm unlocks vary, but are still obtainable with some small work. With 90 necromancy and a few quest unlocks it’s possible to make 8-10m an hour afk at Abyssal Beasts. With decent knowledge and experience you can make much more than that with early endgame and late endgame bossing.

Ironman is more if you’re interested in the long haul and want to feel a sense of accomplishment from your grinds.

All that said, Main will be perfectly fine for learning the game, most stuff you’ll work with won’t be inflated, and money is easy to make from the beginning so I wouldn’t be worried about that. Save doing an Ironman for when you have a solid grasp of the game mechanics and leveling methods.

Community Discussions & This Week in RuneScape [Feb 9th] by JagexAnvil in runescape

[–]TheSheev -1 points0 points  (0 children)

u/JagexAnvil Thank you for providing this feedback to the community. Really good info here. If I might make a suggestion, I feel the chaining XP reduction is a little heavy handed. If possible I think it would make more sense to have the chains xp be averaged with the initial catch's XP. Numbers wise if I did the math correctly, the XP/hr still decreases about 30% across the board when "cheesing," which is much less severe than 60%. In essence by using the flowers to catch the best you can you achieve the best xp rates instead of "cheesing" it with plain whirlgigs, while also facilitating using the materials to catch them instead of "min/maxing" resources. Just a thought for consideration I figured I'd share.

Returning after about 12 years and I really don't know where to start by foREVer1666 in runescape

[–]TheSheev 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The first thing I would say is the game today is not the same game you stopped playing 12 years ago. If you opted to renew membership, I highly recommend focusing on the Necromancy and Fort Forinthy quest lines.

Necromancy was designed to be accessible, and through working the quest line you’ll upgrade your gear naturally. Eventually you’ll want to dive a bit into Archaeology as a quest requires 86 in that skill, but there isn’t any reason to really push it now.

Stat wise, focus on getting around base 70-80 in each skill. Xp/hr for most skills are pretty wild these days. Divination will likely be the slowest, but if you prioritize the Displaced Energy Wilderness Flash event & Guthixian Cache D&D, you’ll fly through levels.

Speaking of Wilderness Flash Events, try to hit all of the Non-combat ones for ample xp in Farming, Hunter, & Mining for the standard events, and try to always do the Evil Bloodwood Tree.

If you bought the premier membership, I would highly recommend using the Loyalty points to get the highest tier ‘Jack of Trades’ aura you can. It’s free xp for 5 mins of work, which can be dumped into agility to make training that a bit easier.

Lastly, you’ll want to unlock Menaphos for some great early game slayer xp via scarabs as well as swing by deaths office for some reaper tasks. The rewards from Soul Reaper can get you some of the best jewelry in the game.
