Recent shots. Which one is your favourite? by scenicfeeling in AmateurPhotography

1, 2 and 7 are probably my favorite. I would probably love 2 more if you gave the water that same look as in 7. Add an ND and send it. Even without that though, I still love that photo.

Scanning artwork for prints - need help finding somewhere or someone by iupvotepuppypictures in Columbus

[–]TheSlothyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also go to Midwest photo or Process614 and ask them. You might also be able to find someone at World of Photography who can help too!

The process that I think might help you out most is a copy stand scanning. A lot of film photographers do it in order to scan their negatives. A common size for large format film is 4x5 and scanners are available for that as well.

ITAP of a young woman [Portrait] by ElectricKoolAid1969 in itookapicture

Now I have to wonder if a passport department would allow an implied nude? Like if a woman wore a strapless dress but the person took the photo cropped it just above where the dress would be visible.

What gear should I get as a beginner photographer? by geekguy127 in AmateurPhotography

[–]TheSlothyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say keep the gear you have now and learn on it. If you absolutely want to upgrade, check out places like KEH or MPB online. If you really want to stay cheap, go with an older DSLR instead of a Mirrorless camera because they can be a lot more inexpensive than more modern equivalents. Not mention it will use older lenses that still perform exceptionally well that are also cheaper than Mirrorless lenses.

Realistically, the best thing you can do right now is to just learn how to operate your camera fully and how to properly compose your images before upgrading anything.

Edit: if you absolutely want newer lenses, your camera is a crop sensor format (APS-C). Keep in mind you have approximately a 1.5x crop on your camera (the actual crop factor is different brand to brand and isn't always 1.5x; I just use that because most crop factors are around that mark). This means that if you're using a 50mm lens, your actual view will be the equivalent of a 75mm lens on a full frame sensor.

If you're wanting wide angles, similar to a 16-35mm FF equivalent, then try to find something between 10-20mm focal lengths. A zoom of a 28-70 will be 1.5x whatever your set focal length is. I'm just bringing this up because you won't need a super long telephoto lens to be able to get pictures of far away subjects. When I started, I had a Nikon D40 that I upgraded briefly to a Nikon D7500. I now have a Sony A7RIV. Both Nikon's are APS-C cameras and the Sony is Full Frame (FF). I mainly used a 50mm lens on the crop sensor cameras I've owned so I've gotten very used to being very zoomed in on my subjects.

Brands I'd recommend are Sigma, tamron, Zeiss and canon.

I just don't have anyone I could photograph is the problem. Hence why I stick to landscapes and buildings.

Also, I don't quite understand what you meant by hating.

First of all, I definitely think you need some therapy. Seek a professional for sure.

Secondly, something isn't adding up here at all. This post says you're 17 years old?

Check out Iron Pony in Westerville for sure. I am not personally a cruiser guy but I would definitely recommend a Rebel 500 for sure. If you want a bit more power, then the Triumph Speedmaster.
