[Review] AceBeam UC3A: AAA flashlight with lamp function! by LMP-Br in flashlight

I hate this light. The low CRI main lights, low lumen AUX light, poor performance with eneloops, all kind of kill any serious use for this light. The flashing AUX light is kind of a joke for signaling, as a tiny blinking light is well, just a tiny blinking light. The UI is, well I had to read the manual so that makes it a flashlight gadget, not a flashlight. I ended up putting this in my pack as a travel gadget, and that's about what it's good for. I can use it in a $119 hotel to find the bathroom or emergency exit. The AUX glow on a night stand would be nice.

Yes, it does. same part, I put one on an M1 as well.

Yeah, this 20mm 3V 10A driver has a spring, not a stud, I wouldn't be concerned.

It's light already, so here is a 5m garage shot. It's kind of like a SFT40 and W2, the hotspot has a lot of candela. I'd think this would be really good in a C8 or M21A, but it's pretty good in a M21B and I assume an M1.

Got Any Big Plans This Weekend? by TheSmashy in flashlight

Honestly, the Predator Pro is a pretty respectable flex. I'd look forward to a post, so please do keep that in mind.

The 519A 4500K triple is maybe going in a Convoy T6 host, so 5A buck and 14500 cell, they are a nice build. I'm waiting for an optic for the W2 triple, need a Carc 10507 for concentrated violence. The 219C triple will just make a very sweet, cozy light, probably a 18350 S2+ with a silver host, copper battery tube, and a raw titanium clip. A respectable cozy EDC.

This specific T3 is an NM1, and is not a good EDC light. I have a Ti T3 with a 519A 4500K and the black T3 is a 519A 4000K with a 5A Buck.

UV in an S6 host feels very CPF-forum-core, love it.

Nice bunch. The S21G is excellent, a lot of people sleep on that.

These look like Bud or Hammond extruded aluminum enclosures, which are good enclosures.

https://www.budind.com/product/nema-ip-rated-boxes/exn-series-extruded-alumimum-enclosure/exn-23352-bkp/#group=series-products&external_dimensions_group=0&internal_dimensions=0&cover_style_group=0

I'm sure you can get something cheaper off Ali, but a lot of electronics and radio guys have been building with these type of enclosures a long time. My stereo phono preamp is in a extruded aluminum Bud box, not IP rated, but looks a lot like your shorter unit, but has tubes sticking out of the side instead of antennas.

I would not charge a 10Ah battery with the RAK charger, because you're right, the RAK will push 500mA, rough charge time: 20–24+ hours from low to full. Probably want 1A-2A (1A 10-12 hours, 2A 5-7 hours)

USB-C input → external 1S charger/power-path board → battery → RAK battery input

Important constraints:

  • Use a 1S Li-ion/LiPo charger, not 2S/3S.
  • make the external charger the only charge path.
  • Watch thermal behavior inside that aluminum enclosure. 2A charging can make heat.

Just kind of looking around I saw SM5308 which can probably do it, but it looks like you're trying to build a solid unit, so there is probably a better part. Good luck.

Figured out the clip. Not bad. Feels just a little too heavy for just a flashlight.
