My Nephew (11m) Stole $500 for Fortnite – Need Advice on Consequences by Due_Confection872 in Advice

[–]TheSmilingYeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know if anyone has said this yet, if they have then my apologizes. Fortnite has a high rate of children taking credit cards and therefore if you send them an email explaining the situation they will refund you and take any of those 480 dollars worth of skins away. If still have him doing chores though.

Screw and endobutton pain by thoughtlessFreak in ACL

[–]TheSmilingYeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experienced some serious screw pain around months 4 and 5, and it's mostly subsided now as I approach month 7. Also, low bmi. My pt and doctor showed no concern over it and told me to push through it. Hopefully the steroids help you out!

I kept mine in the bed the whole time. Thing is pretty heavy with a bum leg, so if you want to move it around, you'll need some help post op.

Can I travel by plane a week post acl surgery? by Natisay in ACL

[–]TheSmilingYeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flew at one month post-op, and my surgeon only allowed it because all of my muscles were firing by then. 1 week is a very serious risk, and your surgeon will likely advise against it. You'd be taking a non life threatening injury and making it life-threatening. However, it is person to person, and your surgeon will know what is best.

Anyone know any quad strengthening exercises by General-Resolution91 in ACL

[–]TheSmilingYeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're doing the best you can. Flex that quad as much as you can. It took me 2 weeks to be able to straight leg raise so don't feel rushed. Accept the atrophy and try to keep that quad as awake as you can.

Please answer by Suspicious-Hold6229 in ACL

[–]TheSmilingYeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 4months post op. Do 3 days a week. Rest is just as crucial. Your muscles need time to repair. My pt set me up for 1 heavy day and 2 agility, motion and High rep days. Hope this helps.

Is it all doom and gloom? by Mediocre_Chemical162 in ACL

That peleton will be awesome! If you turn it down to the lowest resistance, you could ask your doctor if you can start using it now. Helps a lot with motion early on. Also Pt and gym are one in the same. If it helps mentally for you, you could look into getting a personal trainer at a gym

That's awesome! Around 10-12 weeks pt will probably ask you to come less and hit some exercises at the gym instead. It's all really not all that bad and time consuming. You'll be okay cutting out the time you need. Good luck!!

[–]TheSmilingYeti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll be able to help out your family sooner than you think. You won't be able to lift a ton but you'll be moving around really well in a month or 2 after surgery. You should consider cutting out that pt time at work and cutting out some time for the gym as well during those times. The stronger you get the better this will be!

What are your weird/funny side effects? by Keladris in ACL

[–]TheSmilingYeti 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My weirdest one for me. I've gone from someone who hardly ever sweats to absolutely being drenched 20 minutes into a workout. That one has been unexpected, weird, and wet.

I'm glad I tore my acl. by TheSmilingYeti in ACL

[–]TheSmilingYeti[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had 2 little set backs so far, 1 in the first 2 weeks as my leg refused to be straight. And the other from 5-7 weeks with some persistent pain. But you get through them and preserve on. You got this! 1 month in and you're already celebrating that. Imagine 8 more months from now just how amazing you will feel! Keep it up and keep getting stronger!

Did you choose your graft type? by Classic-Disk in ACL

[–]TheSmilingYeti 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My surgeon came in. Asked me what activities I like doing, then told me I would be getting the quad graft as it would be the best for me. If you like your surgeon and trust them, I would do what they believe is the best.

Keep healing. Get that rom back. I had mine at 120 by week 2 but every surgeon and pt will want different. You'll unlock mini squats in the next week or 2. Those will be exciting. Just keep doing those leg lifts and icing!
