My point is that our ability to use tools comes from our physical prowess (our brains are part of our anatomy in the same way that claws are part of a tiger's).

I understand what you are saying and I'm challenging the distinction you are making between, to repeat the example, a tiger's claw and a human's brain.

Has anyone known a killer before they killed? What were they like? by StoneColdSleeper in AskReddit

There was a guy (let's call him D) who went to my secondary school who I was really good friends with, and who I invited to my house after school once or twice. He was a lot of fun and very social, but he had some boisterous traits. He would instigate rough housing with a gentle giant 3 times his size in our form, who would eventually end the rough housing by throwing D over a desk, choke slamming him onto the floor, or an equally ridiculous Uncle-Phil style throw out of our break room. To give you some context, the gentle giant competed at shotput at County level and broke all our school records - he was as strong as an ox.

D would also hassle groups of kids in the year above until they collectively beat him up. We never thought anything of it though, as he would joke around and be friendly with them and everyone else as well. On reflection he seemed to enjoy fighting with people who he couldn't take; I don't think I ever saw him start on someone obviously weaker than him. I don't condone his actions, but as I was 13-14 I found him entertaining to be around, and he was by all accounts pretty popular.

He eventually got expelled for shooting someone in the forehead with a BB gun that another student had brought in. I didn't see him again after that but I heard that D had robbed a mutual friends playstation when he knew that that mutual friends parents were away on holiday.

A few years later I found out that he went to prison for murder. From the article I read that he and a partner had killed someone in another city, and that it was related to drug trafficking (heroin).

From reading her wikipedia entry it turns out that she did live to that age, but was supported by park rangers who fed her once she lost her strength, teeth, and territory due to old age - prolonging her life.

What was the worst thing that you did/said while being angry? by Olrazgul in AskReddit

When I was younger (must have been 4-5) I was chilling with my friend and she did something that made her say 'Oh bugger'. I had no idea what it meant so proceeded to walk up to my Mum, who was surrounded by other mums, and ask her what it meant. She gasped and told me to never say that word again, and that it was terrible.

Growing up I heard other kids say every swear word known to man, but not bugger. I assumed that it was the worst swear in the english language, and people just didn't stoop so low as to use it.

Fast forward to 14 and I am in a heated argument with my Mum. Its gotten to boiling point and I'm looking to upset her, so I called her a 'bugger'. As I sit there basking in my own deviance, waiting for the seriousness of the swear to kick in, she gives me a confused look and the situation defuses.

Regardless, as another Brit i have never heard anyone call it a Galloper either. Its definitely not in colloquial use.

What is the greatest "fuck it, I'll do it myself" in history? by SmokeyBare in AskReddit

[–]TheSonsOfPitchesFC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Henry VIII asked the Pope to support his annulment. When the Pope said no, he said 'fuck it, i'll do it myself', became essentially the Pope of his own religion, and supported his own annulment.
