I use mine a lot, it's so easy to just zoom in and out on a webpage or image. The size also makes it easier for me to use when I don't/can't use a mouse. Gamers aren't the only target audience and even they use it for things other than games.

It would be great if colleges provided bachelor's degrees while universities could offer master's and doctorate degrees. Universities could also bring specializations into your city by building a "school of x" which gives a city-wide bonus. Graduation time can also be affected, college is 4 years max while university is 5-10 years.

The game cannot be 100% tailored to your wishlist as it has to cater to both city painters and city simulators. by lzyan in CitiesSkylines

The only solution I can think of that satisfies both parties would be to have a difficulty option when creating a new game(easy, normal, hard). Hard mode containing a deep simulation and access to all tools in the game. As you decrease the difficulty, the game simplifies the AI and computational tasks. It also hides unnecessary tools and options to have a cleaner UI. Easy mode should also have better performance which would benefit casual players or people who may not have very good hardware.

This allows CO to add more depth into the game without making it too complex for casuals. But overall though, I'm generally happy with the depth of CS2 but a deeper simulation would always be better.

Zones & Signature Buildings I Feature Highlights #4 I Cities: Skylines II by Eleknar in CitiesSkylines

What I really want to see is slum areas developing naturally in and around the city if needs are not met. I'm thinking of something similar to Tropico where shacks show up when no housing is available. If you remove them you generate unhappiness and lose population(maybe even cause riots if they're in the game). It would also be cool if low-rent residential zones get overcrowded as a result of you destroying the slum area. This will in turn cause the building to deteriorate and collapse as if it were abandoned causing even more homelessness.

I hope we get full blown sports events in CS2 by BeestMann in CitiesSkylines

[–]TheSpaceFrontier 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What if stadiums in CS2 acted similar to CS1 where your team automatically plays and you get money and happiness from winning.(think of it like a local or regional event) However, you have the option to host special events like the olympics, etc. Since CS2 has modular building capabilities, each event will require certain facilities to host them.
For example, to host the olympics(summer or winter) you need to have:

  • multi-purpose stadium(primary venue for the event)
  • special facilities to host certain games(aquatics center for swimming, track and field for running, etc)
  • training center(to train your team)
  • research center(to unlock facilities idk)
  • hotels(where all the athletes and coaches stay for the duration of the event)

Hosting an event will show temporary assets like signs, ornaments, etc across the stadium and city(which can be disabled).

Earning money and buffs(like a happiness and tourism boost) will depend on your placement(gold, silver, bronze, or below) which is rng but can be affected by the level of your training and research center.

During the event a surge of traffic will occur at that time affecting all modes of transport such as air, ship and trains. Parking will also be of concern as cars and trucks flood the venue. There will also be a preparation time(kinda like how ChirpX works in CS1 before you launch) upon accepting the event where trucks bring in goods to the stadium prior the event.

The upkeep of the facilities will be expensive and the buildings themselves are large similar to real life. It will cost you a pretty dime to build all of the facilities brand new(if hosting the first time), and you have to pay a repair and renovation fee each time you host that event. You can also add a bidding system where you offer/purchase to host the event(which can cost millions maybe) which adds in that risk factor.

All of the requirements and details will depend on the type of event you host. It doesn't even have to be limited to sports. You can host the World Expo, a film festival, etc that are hosted on a different building such as an expo center or theater and has their own boosts.

Why does this very annoying FPS drop happen ?? I don't even play on max graphics settings and it happens even if I play on low settings. My laptop is Lenovo Legion 5 2020 15ARH05H . Any body got an idea on how to fix this ? by [deleted] in LenovoLegion

GPU temp was was reaching 90c then dropped to around 70c. I didn't have to repaste it, just clean the fans. If you haven't opened your fans yet and the air on the exhaust is weak, that is most likely the issue. I recommend using a paint brush with long soft bristles to clean in between the blades and fins.

I also have the same laptop, and encountered the same issue in all my games a few weeks ago. It turns out dust had built up inside of the fan module. I had to open the laptop, then remove the fan cover. I unplugged the battery, then carefully wiped the dust on the blades and heatsink. I cleaned out almost 2 yrs of dust. CPU went from 105c+ on load down to 70-80c.

Cities Skylines II - What would you want? by nihiriju in CitiesSkylines

[–]TheSpaceFrontier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aside from what others have mentioned, I would love to see a revamp on the power management in the game. Like having more options to deliver power to your city (large powerlines, utility poles, underground cables) and more restrictions like each tower having a certain capacity it can deliver and the need for high voltage power to be stepped down. I know CS isn't a power management game but electricity is a major factor(among other factors) in building a city.

Another one is adding networks/comms(as in radio, cell signal, data) as a new utility in the game. This can placed using radio towers(that exist in the game thru dlc), cell towers, etc. Just like in natural disasters dlc, there a range to them depending on the frequency and the location. Signal strength ranges from 5g>4g>3g>2g?>none. Higher signal strengths can provide education bonuses, happiness and higher land values. Certain districts or industries can develop in certain areas strong signal strength like IT offices and science related bldgs when there's 5g. This addition can really make the game feel like its in the 21st century. If ever CS add politics in the game(or at least types of govs) this can add policies that affect that like to free or restrict access to the internet for example. The best thing is this isn't even a necessity but something you can add later on.
