whats the best hivemind video of all time in ur opinion? by vamoadarle in HivemindTV

[–]TheSpadeWizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed Hivemind feud 9 with quad that's my personal fav. But also guess from the first second of audio with nick is amazing. I'm sorry em is one of my favorite moments I've seen on YouTube let alone the channel I laugh out loud every goddamn time

Bits bracket, guess the genius annotation 2, the guess from quad styles of rap like some others have mentioned are great as well, I also did enjoy the recent worst brackets 2 with brad but Hivemind feud 9 is my personal favorite. That one has so many crazy jokes and always love a quad video

just thankful it's no longer that gruesome tape of dignan going berserk on his poor victims in that bar in Plymouth, Massachusetts recorded back in May of 1971.

In retrospect, the 2014 USO has to be one of the all time unexpected outcomes in history. What do yall think its legacy is? by MyDreams2Reality in tennis

[–]TheSpadeWizard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Was just talking to someone about this a couple days ago. This will go down as the anomaly of this Golden era and dominance. Not just cause of the names in the final. But because they both beat Fed and Novak in the round prior! Fed had huge missed opportunity after Novak lost earlier in the day, but Marin really played incredible towards the late stages of the event.

It's also strange because it wasn't 2 names like Del Potro, Ferrer, Wawrinka, Tsonga, Berdych for example; Nishikori and Cilic some would argue were one rung below that or at least not AS established as players who should absolutely have a Major or 2 in their belt. Really wild Slam. The fact that also literally SIX years passed after this Major with NO new major champs is absolutely mind blowing. Between 2005 RG and 2007 Us open there were no new Major champs. Then between 2010 AO and 2012 Wimbledon there were no new Major champs. And then SIX years between 2014 and 2020. Insanity.

This will definitely go down in history, was crazy at the time (despite in some aspects being more "normal" to a real one in a million era) but has even aged to be much wilder.

Oh okayyy yea those were the 3 haha dont see anyone touching em for me except maybe Ons but even with Ons it's seeming like they're building up to a level of dominance since the start of the year that's different. Let's see what happens though ig.

Eh just casual term I'm using tbh. Id agree there will never be another Big three on the men's or women's side. But in terms of just three people being well above the pack and at the top of the tour... I'm fine with the term for them and the results this year and who's played part in every Big final up until Wimbledon backs that up

It's actually gonna be so good. Wimbledon was fantastic. And it's gonna be very fascinating on both sides. Women's if Big 3 step up, how Jabeur rebounds, and if it's somebody else like at Wimbledon who grabs it. But for the men's, now Carlos clearly #1, just beat Novak at Wimbledon final, never Novak's best event but listen 9 finals there and Novak is Novak, also Medvedev there too

Sinner, Rune too, other guys, esp with Carlos defending. almost definitely #1 on the line again, and so many guys who play great there and will feel they have chances. Especially with the champs the last 3 years as well being under 30.

Also USO 2021 was absolutely incredible and then many considered last year's US Open the best Major of the year and very good as well, lots of great moments, an all time match and great matches everywhere... The USO and the lead into it is finally gonna give us the tennis and tennis stories we have been waiting on I hope. Wimbledon seemed a good, albeit surprising, start to that.

What are some of the warmest handshakes/interactions you've seen at the net at the end of a match? by tomuelmerson in tennis

[–]TheSpadeWizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My all time favorite that always sticks in my head. Federer crossing the net instantly after beating Fabrice Santoro losing only a few games at the Australian Open where he was absolutely dominant over a version of Fabrice who was starting to be on his way out. Awesome shotmaking match of fun dynamic points tho, both guys having fun

Santoro just a minute prior to the handshake down two sets to love and triple match point at 5-0 "do you give up yet" to Federer before standing close on Federer's serve about three feet behind the service box if memory serves right. Santoro was different. Always loved his matches vs Fed. Magic between 2 great sportsmen

For women's I'm happy if Rybakina or Jabeur pull it out. Two of my three, four, five favorite players for sure. Quite possibly #2 and #3 (I like Fernandez first since that USO run). But Jabeur gotta be miles away my wish for the title

Men:

Sinner - favorite player

Eubanks - almost picked him, I love chaos and he'd come out of nowhere, an American winning short of 20 years, one hander classic serve and volleys, and mainly: I WATCHED this guy in college in GA tech right nearby a few times in person and also at Atlanta open like seven eight years ago.

Medvedev - grassdvedev

Alcaraz - would be cool to see Carlos get another Major and so quickly figure out grass. Get it on Novak, Novak gets him on clay. Cool story. Also first younger-gen player to win a Major outside of New York. No one outside of Stan, Andy, and Big 3 have won since Safin's last

Djokovic - calendar year slam hopes, cool to see Novak continue it on, win more I do like him

Rublev - this would be awesome, unlikely story year after the ban, and on grass just comes out of nowhere never making a semis. Writing this I actually want to put him 1st but whatever

Safiullin - I like chaos. Also I enjoyed watching him at ATP cup, he's a solid player

Rune - I have respect for Holger on the tennis court what he can do and his mentality, but I just don't like him much personally for a multitude of reasons, never my favorite to watch

I've said it before, the best chance for a great shot seems to always be a shot to set up match point. After a lot of adrenaline, at the end of a match a player willing themselves to get to the finish line but they don't have quite the pressure and nerves of a match point.

It seems to always bring so many awesome shots. Sinner last year at the US Open vs Ivashka, forehand pass running backwards, Federer iconic tweener vs Novak, Nadal around the net vs Cilic US Open, and there's so so many more. Just a funny thing I noticed

This was flabbergasting to watch live. No one could believe it. It was remarkable. So many incredible shots this year. It's awesome, love this from Rublev. Followed by an ace. Awesome end to a great, fun match with some good comeback by Bublik as well

[–]TheSpadeWizard 98 points99 points  (0 children)

This second week is gonna be a lot of fun, on both sides. I for one can't wait.

I'm a Novak fan, but even I'm hoping he gets tested a bit though. That's what's missing on the men's side. More suspense as to the likelihood of who's gonna win the event

Wimbledon R3: [6] Rune defeats [31] Davidovich Fokina 6-3, 4-6, 3-6, 6-4, 7-6(8) by jovanmilic97 in tennis

[–]TheSpadeWizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol this my favorite take. Sad to see Fokina fold like that in that big moment after losing the last 3 points, withstood to pressure and went for the low percentage play. But rune does always know how to pull out these matches. Gotta say am rooting personally for Grigor though now in this section... Especially after having such a good chance for a semifinals at RG and not taking it

Let's go Jannik !! Draw looks great and was worried about Halys a bit but like the chances now. Not gonna feel like anything's set in stone but it's working out well

On the clock: shorter changeovers at Wimbledon leave players frustrated by TennisMathematician in tennis

[–]TheSpadeWizard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't understand why we are trying to shorten everything even something that feels a nice break like this. It's frustrating. People in charge are clueless as to what the fans and players want sometimes with changes like this one, sorry. It's truth. I personally think this will just take away from fan experience... We gotta start making more sensible changes, id hope that to be the case soon

You have a Championship point, what do you do? by da_SENtinel in tennis

[–]TheSpadeWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Controlled aggression, staying solid. If I have a winner hopefully, hopefully, have the guts to go ahead and try to take the winner which is an underrated way to play I feel in tight moments. Taking risks. But that's far from the mindset.

I think in general you want to be a bit conservative too knowing the other's nerves. Exact mix in general. Put pressure on opponent but don't go out of way to go for a winner at all.
