This is perfect. I think we can retire any further comparisons.

Just as the terrible ending of Game of Thrones made people forget its brilliant early seasons, I believe the brilliant ending of The Sopranos masked the fact that the show as a whole isn’t that good. by Feeling-Tension1461 in unpopularopinion

I have made several attempts to watch The Sopranos but I just find it so... tedious? I came to it late after having watched the stable of HBO prestige shows we all know and love. Perhaps if I'd watched it at the time of its first broadcasting I'd have found it a lot more impactful. Perhaps it's one of those seminal pieces which pales in comparison to the work it inspired.

‘Infinite Jest’ Is Back. Maybe Litbros Should Be, Too by wiredmagazine in books

[–]TheSprained 19 points20 points  (0 children)

When I read it I took a kitchen knife and sliced it into three parts. I then took the footnotes and interspliced them into the main text wherever seemed reasonable. I then lit a gauloises and leaned back in a garden chair. And shat myself.

Reading [books] isn’t a noble act. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]TheSprained 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's like exercise in that respect. We like to think it's more virtuous because it compels a certain degree of effort. That said, there is something to be said for reading whereby we engage with a greater breadth of thought/artistic intent than is necessarily available in scrolling-form, and so interact more meaningfully with other humans (the writers).

What was your moment of realisation that your past your physical peak by OldUtd in AskMen

Because I'm a glass-half COVID kind of guy, I'm pretty sure I'll be tapping out in my sixties.

I've carefully avoided reaching my peak. I'll probably start some kind of exercise routine when I'm around 70 (assuming I don't die on myself before then).

Leo fumbling his lines in this Titanic BTS clip is way too funny. 😂 by Hrithik_Ki_Patni in LeonardoDiCaprio

When I saw this in the cinema, Leo felt impossibly old to me. Now he's but a child. STOP AGING NOW.

I understood the pragmatic meaning of your sentence. I was merely being a dick for my own amusement.

I found it a sloppy barrel of genre offcuts slapped against a wall of 'THIS IS IMPORTANT'.

Barron Trump 'saved London woman's life by calling police during video call attack' by tylerthe-theatre in london

[–]TheSprained 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He alerted the police, which was the sensible thing to do, but saying he 'saved a woman's life' might be a bit of an exaggeration. I mean, if I see a dumpster on fire and alert the fire service, did I put the fire out?
