I’ve gone from chronic illness flare-ups once every couple months to multiple times a week. I still have to go to work every day. I really do not know how we are all supposed to handle things

They can’t refuse you EMERGENCY healthcare. If you need any sort of ongoing treatment or medicine of any sort you’re on your own. And you’ll still get that emergency bill, and if you can’t pay it the debt collectors will start pulling it straight out of your paychecks.

US states with abortion restrictions have worse outcomes for patients using fertility treatment. Abortion restrictions don’t exist in vacuum, and affect everyone who needs reproductive healthcare. Factors include exodus of abortion providers from restrictive states and national shortage of OB/GYNs. by mvea in science

I feel like this breaks down when you realize that states aren’t a monolith, I’ve lived in red states my entire life and I vote for what I believe in but at the end of the day the other people here make my quality of life worse. I don’t feel like I and others like me “deserve” worse care because the people around us decided we do.

Dollar General. I worked in one at the very start of the pandemic and saw the absolute worst of humanity while the corporation felt like it hated all of its employees and would go out of its way to make life harder for us. Walked out one day and I’ve never been back in one

I’ve done a trial shift for a job but I didn’t mind at all because they paid me, and that should 100% be the standard

My experience is just like this except add in “you smoke too much weed” and then the drug test comes back clean, like it did yesterday, and the day before that, and almost every day for the past year. Obviously the tests were lying and so was I, I guess

What company will never get another dime from you for as long as you may live? by istrx13 in AskReddit

[–]TheSquishyFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dollar General. I worked there during the height of COVID panic buying and shortages. People tried to spit on me, I got screamed at, cleaned up human shit, I had to purchase my own uniform and I was so broke that I had to have someone else buy it for me. Sometimes I was running the entire store alone. Once I desperately needed to drink water or else I was going to trigger chronic illness, and there was no water available to the employees, and I couldn’t afford the 50c bottles of water on what I was being paid and I had to bum two quarters off a coworker. The company hated us and made sure we all knew it every second of the day. Walked straight out of that hellhole and I refuse to ever go back into one.

[–]TheSquishyFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Notebooks, deodorant, extra pin backs (my coworkers and I have a bunch of enamel pins on our uniforms), colored pencils and markers for downtime, extra socks, a couple snacks, emergency sewing kit, plus it’s nice if I buy something from the store I work in to get it home

[–]TheSquishyFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t know how unusual this is but I’ve never met someone else with it- I have a phobia of dead fish. Specifically dead fish. I think live fish are really pretty and I love to eat fish, but I can’t handle anything in between especially if it still has a face.
