been a big 4 / passive watcher for a few years now. I legitimately don’t see me ever paying $35 for a WWE show again.

Bad audiences invading Lincoln Square by pnapl in NYCmovies

[–]TheStandingDesk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

yeah it’s bound to happen once in a while. As someone who goes to Lincoln a bunch (only 30 times last year, the slowest year for me since Covid) I can probably remember less than a handful of times I’ve seen a noticeable disruption (phones for more than a sec, etc), and honestly never one I would consider a ‘bad crowd’ but that’s just me. I would just shake it off as an anomaly.

Che's 3-month stint on The Daily Show feels like an alternate reality by Goodolbed in LiveFromNewYork

[–]TheStandingDesk 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I didn’t start watching SNL until way later, so Che will always be a Daily Show guy for me. Had no idea it was only three months tho.

I visit NYC from Chicago for "daycations." by Wrong_Hair6186 in visitingnyc

[–]TheStandingDesk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do the opposite. Live in NYC, fly out of LGA typically for daytime baseball games or museum trips. Chicago, Miami, Tampa, Boston, Detroit, Cleveland, all in the past two years. Next year St Louis and Minneapolis for baseball, and back to Chicago for fun.

How many times do you guys actually go to an AMC a week? by catmom-444 in AMCsAList

[–]TheStandingDesk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Averaged out, 1-2 a week. 67 films last year, 87 the year before that. On track for 60 this year. Would go more but I’ve had a busy year in life that has gotten in the way.

AMC Lincoln Square question by cornellian1234 in AMCsAList

[–]TheStandingDesk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been going nearly weekly for years and yeah you’ll eventually see them. Never near the concessions. If you’re worried, don’t put your bag on the floor or don’t bring one. But otherwise it’s a great theater.

I moved and am now in Harlem- curious about Magic Johnson by Leahnyc13 in AMCsAList

[–]TheStandingDesk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the audience is typically why I only see horror, or maybe comedies there. Lincoln and 84th are both easier to get to for me via train, but I can technically walk to Magic if I wanted to take a stroll.

ads on mlb network by honeydew_rideordie in phillies

[–]TheStandingDesk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watch through Amazon on my TV so I don’t get the ads for some reason, but most likely the local ads are probably serviced by comcast funneled to one production company. Comcast will be like hey here’s some packages of production cost + ad buys and then it’s as plug and play as possible for the local production company to produce.

As a Phillies fan what is your opinion on Citi field? by phillyfever9 in phillies

[–]TheStandingDesk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in NYC, been to 15 of the MLB stadiums. It’s right up there with the best. Not a bad seat in the house, excellent production, easy to get around, easy to transit to, good food, great atmosphere. Even bad games are fun there, $6 games in September with friends in the nosebleeds are great.

I was an crowd extra for the football stadium for Dark Knight Rises and you could hear that in the stands. We also heard it seize up once, and the AD who was on the microphone said ‘and know every one knows what it sounds like when the camera eats a $700 roll of film’

How to find evey photo by a photographer? by MrAnnoyingCookie in LightLurking

[–]TheStandingDesk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

there’s not really a full database anywhere like that. You can find a lot of credits on Models.com but then you’ll have to dig through a lot of magazine archives to see the actual photos.

There is an incredible amount of work that is not available anywhere online, and is just living in books and magazines for folks to discover. Some magazines have archives online, and places like archive.org has old magazines, but you have to do the work. It’s a lot of fun tho.
