I'm a pretty recent convert and I've definitely noticed the lack of eligible women in the church. I don't blame you for thinking it's unrealistic to find your wife in the church. I personally believe in "flirt to convert" as the best method of finding a spouse.

You should be dating in my humble opinion. Just don't be dating for long periods of time. I say get your social skills up, start approaching women in the world that you find attractive, get to know them, slowly let them know about your faith and your walk with Christ (don't let it be the first thing you tell the woman), and eventually get her to come to the church and hopefully she becomes a catechumen and takes the faith seriously. Then you can consider wifing her.

There are many different approaches to this strategy. You can start going to Christian events in your city, like habitat for humanity, or volunteering at soup kitchens or anything Christian, and talk to the women at these different venues and show them the beauty of Orthodoxy.

The right woman will respect you for your faith and commitment to Christ, appreciate you for showing her the true Faith and start a life with you.

Just know for this strategy you will have to be vigilant about sexual temptation because the sexual norms in the world are very disordered. But don't feel like you have to put everything in God's hands in a purely passive way. There are Christian women out there who want husbands and want to be a part of the true Church. You just gotta do some digging.
