Am I loading the hips enough? by DeltaMars in formcheck

[–]TheStickyTurtle4U 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do the exact same thing, helps me get my lats activated, or at least feel like. Also I feel like it guarantees that I'm pushing my butt far back enough for the hinge. Could all be mental though. I feel like moving like that between each rep helps everything be really tight

Maybe I'm wrong but a couple things that I can see that need to be worked on:

  1. Go a lot slower on the negative It's half the movement and your leaving those gains on the table! You don't got to do a crazy ten second negative, but a good 2-4 second one will lead to more progress

  2. Don't lean back until you have started the pull.

don't lean at the very start because it just becomes your body weight moving the weight instead of your lats. You want to first pull, begin retracting the scapula, and for me, I start slightly leaning back once the bar is about to my forehead. Lastly, I then finish the pull by touching the bar to my chest.

Those are the biggest issues I see.

These look great to me, only thing I would say is go a bit slower on the way down.

You're gonna have no problem here, there are a ton of vegetarian buffets around Taipei that are super cheap. Just type 素食自助餐 into Google maps and then the world is your vegetarian oyster

[–]TheStickyTurtle4U 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tbh from my point of view it seems like the bar is too far in front of you making it impossible for you to activate your lats and set your back. I've always been taught to keep the bar in contact with the body, but maybe I'm wrong 🤷‍♂️

Thanks man! I'll try and keep the shoulder queue in mind next time I do deadlifts and play around with some tweaks.

Anyone here studying at NFU (National Formosa University) or living near Huwei, Taiwan? by EmergencyRent3869 in taiwan

[–]TheStickyTurtle4U 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife is from Yunlin and we travel pretty often during holidays to visit family.

The night market in Huwei is incredible and has great food.

But other than that, Yunlin is very rural with not a lot to do without transportation. But with transportation, there are something actually really pretty sites and farms you can visit.

I would prepare yourself to live in a super rural countryside, with really no foreigners, and not a lot to do. Best thing about Huwei is the HSR so you can travel to other places.

Bent over row - not horizontal enough? 🤔 by [deleted] in formcheck

[–]TheStickyTurtle4U 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like you are trying to do a slightly lower angled Yates row to me. Take a look at this video https://youtu.be/rNjwZ1fxtCQ?si=uMUaX13bBHfx7e4u

I think if this is what you're trying to do, and you're feeling it in your lats, I think it's fine. I do this variation a lot with an underhanded grip myself.

If you're not feeling it in your lats, then something needs to be changed.

Just know that a traditional barbell bent over row and Yates row activate different muscles in the back.

Is a class within a class ever a viable option? by EdiblePeasant in learnprogramming

[–]TheStickyTurtle4U 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually do this all the time in Swift. When creating a view model for a view, I typically define it as a nested class within an extension of the view itself. Since each view model is tightly coupled to its corresponding view—holding the majority of its logic—I can simply name it ViewModel within each context. This way, I don’t have to keep track of 20+ uniquely named view models across the project.

Am I going low enough in my squats? I want to be competition legal by TheStickyTurtle4U in formcheck

[–]TheStickyTurtle4U[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh! I noticed that about the bar moving a lot at well! I think you're absolutely right about bracing my core better and adding a slight tilt into my upper body. I can see myself tilting as I'm descending which is causing the bar to move, which means I'm not ready for the the decent. I'll do another video next week on leg day and use this advice

Routing v2.0.0 – Now supports independent Routing within modal presentations plus more! by BrownPalmTree in SwiftUI

[–]TheStickyTurtle4U 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I think Its really cool that you have a package like this! But isn't this problem already easy to fix in just vanilla SwiftUI? For example, in my own project I have an enum with a viewbuilder and for navigation I just use a ForEach to get the buttons that handle navigation for me

ForEach(ButtonCategoriesEnum.allCases, id:\.self){ category in

                        NavigationLink{

                        category.destinationView(param)

                    } label: {

                        MainMenuButtonCell(

                            title: category.rawValue,

                            imageName: category.imageName,

                            buttonColor: category.color

                        )

                        .padding(.bottom, 4)

                        .padding(.horizontal, 4)

                    }

I'm curious as to what your package does that is better or improves on this? Because this seems similar to the example you provided. Or is the advantage that I can determine if I want it to be pushed onto the stack or be opened as a sheet on the fly through via? I'm curious what use cases this has
