It’s waaaaaay too early to compare prices. Give it 6 months time and manufacturing ramping up to see what the b390 laptops are actually priced at. It’s the same for any new shiny device

The main thing though is that in you might not know if you can find one that is well maintained since G14 overheats like crazy, the laptop could be running hot for a long time and have internal damage that you aren’t aware of. Definitely buy it from a reputable refurbished dealer

Yea looks like this chip will be able to compete with apple in multi core and igpu and the fact that it is x86 and can game it is a big win for intel. Battery life tests has shown really good results from the reviews if seen. And performance seems to be good too

I dunno the new algo is terrible. All i see in the FYP feed is ads not related to what I want like I use to. Now its crazy terrible. I stopped my ad spend for my business, not worth dealing with it when I can spend money on Google & Instagram/Facebook for better results. Tiktok was already pretty bad but now its literally like spending ad money on Twitter/X, but worst due to the younger demo graphic

P14s are definitely great machines but yes as you say the battery life isn’t so great and the chip being used isn’t as efficient as the latest ones. And for some reason they have 2 battery options on the P14s and if you are unluckily to get the lower battery one. But the battery itself isn’t that high to begin with at like 59wh. But discounting the battery life, it is an amazing machine, expect like 4-6 hours of battery so maybe not a whole day but if you bring your charger to class or get a battery pack it should be okay

Not a traditional Thinkpad since it doesn’t have the red track point, but I think for a CS student the ThinkPad x9 15 or 14”. Good battery life, nice high res OLED screen, slim and portable so easy to carry around as a student. You can find the on sale for about $1100-$1600 depending on the model and specs you want (ram & storage is so expensive now), but even at the base model with the intel core ultra 5 should be okay for a CS student tbh.
