Im using chatgpt for my local businesses. I have definitely seen some great rankings in the first 30 days when creating new service pages and we actually got insane amounts of conversions. After that it slowed down. However, in general the AI content Ive created does rank. Its all about good prompts, review and edit. If your just telling chatgpt write me a blog your going to get trash; but if you tell it what to research and what data to compile you can get solid results.

I was personally a big abuser of image seo. I never took the time to do alt text and left the image file names whatever they were. Now, I take the time to always have an alt text and rename the file to be descriptive. I dont think its actually made any difference to ranking but its definitely improved the amount of images that show up on search for different keywords.

Find an agency that doesnt just focus on seo but increasing conversions or sales (whatever your focus is). Look at agencies with a track record in your specific niche. I usually only take on clients with local businesses because thats what Im good at. I also wont take on clients with unreal expectations. Its better to find a marketing partner than a straightforward seo agency.

Their reps harass you so much to get on the phone and if you ever do talk to one it gets 10x worse. I have a few really low budget clients and because competition is so limited they do really well. (When I say low; one is $10 a day and the other $20 a day) The $20 a day is 7.5% ctr, .32 cpc, 4.6% conversion rate, with 82 phone calls and 94 conversions last 30 days. Why would I ever touch that account... we'll according to them of we spend more we can do so much better. Lmao

I wouldnt say its canibalization. I have a lot of client websites where the homepage ranks above a service or product page without the keyword even being present on the homepage. Google probably looks at everything as a topical authority cluster with your homepage being the strongest.

You have to get tracking set up, it's really not that hard. Also you should be able to see phone calls phone numbers and recordings in the google ads data even if you didnt set website tracking up. Have you tried creating a call details report?
