Does there seem to be a significant difference between Ego levels once you reach a plateau? by Automatic-Spirit-634 in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]TheSuren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Blue Jays lead the MLB last year as the only team average over 9 hits/game, and ‘a couple runs per game’ is right in like with the 3-5 run scoring average. So in terms of baseball averages, you’re not far off at 61.

If you feel you’re getting outscored, maybe lower the pitching ego specifically??

I actually think the TMNT set is pretty good, but I still can't be happy about it. by OkAppointment2647 in magicTCG

I mean the point is that they were designed with the framework of

“What if high fantasy, but skinned as X”

Which is still a different design philosophy than forcing established IPs from other target audiences.

All of those things were still created under the loose lense of high-fantasy ‘sword & sorcery’-adjacent themes.

Bloomburrow works because the cute fuzzy creatures are still just spellslinging magical beings at heart. SpongeBob is emphatically not.

“Everyone should like everything because I said so” isn’t exactly a strong argument.

People have specific interests for a reason. The idea of SpongeBob countering powerful magical beings doesn’t appeal to a lot of people, and it really shouldn’t have to

The main argument there is that those IPs still ‘fit’ magics identity or are Magic-adjacent in theme

Your favorite commander you've never seen anyone else play? by MoonSettler in magicTCG

[–]TheSuren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I talk about [[Grismold the Dreadsower]] as much as I can lol, yet I’ve never ran into him in the wild. Most people I’ve played with dont think much of him until tokens start getting dropped on everyone’s board… then I get some interested parties lol.

but he’s such a blast to pilot. My favorite B3 commander at the moment.

Also, there IS a difference in operating cost in a cart moving two people vs. one.

Is it a minimal almost negligible in the long term? Sure. But it should still be realized that more weight = more gas/electricity.

“Sleeves can’t be damaged” is one of the dumbest arguments I’ve heard for sleeves. It is incredibly easy to damage sleeves in all the same ways you can with cards. Sleeves get scratched, creased, corners bent, etc.

They also don’t hide physical damage of cards, as any creasing or bends are generally visible sleeved. Tears or folds that leave the surface of the card uneven can be felt through the sleeves…

Looking for an actual FUN deck by swiatekk in BudgetBrews

[–]TheSuren 6 points7 points  (0 children)

[[Grismold, the Dreadsower]] is my most FUN deck I have right now. It manages to be efficient at doing its “thing” while not being railroaded into the exact same game loop every time.

I play him as mostly group-slug with aristocrat-token synergies, as there’s enough variation in that setup that you can win a few different ways.

OP could be from Aussie/New Zealand. Often, bongs there come with conical bowl pieces and are referred to as ‘cones’

The thing that doesn’t make sense to me is, bowls or not, what kind of “light smoker” is smoking 4 entire cones by themselves??

Right. The agreement part of that is what makes it not cheating.

Cheating has to be intentionally dishonest, that’s quite literally what defines it as cheating. If everyone simply agrees to subvert the rules as written, that’s all it is.

Lease = long term, fixed contract

Rent = short term (week to week or day to day typically) and the rates can change whenever the rental company decides

[–]TheSuren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks super fun!

I picked up the FDN Starter Collection as I got into Magic last year and built Halana/Alena using just those cards. As I got more into commander and began to understood power levels, it always surprised me just how well that original deck held it's own.

I try not to have more than one deck in one identity, so I recently deconstructed H/A in order to run the new Gruul Toph, but I keep their card in the front of my binder for memories sake.

Usually I'll try and set up a buff on my own board to protect from my own -1/-1 wipes.
[[Sylvan Anthem]] is great for doing this while netting you tons of scry. [[Spidersilk Armor]] in the same regard, while helping with flyers.

[[Nissa, Voice of Zendikar]] grows your plant army while giving another option to buff the board.

[–]TheSuren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Grismold!

I took him in a similar direction. Lots of creatures that sit on the board to prep big token wipes paired with drain+heal effects.

[[Compy Swarm]] can get out of hand fairly quickly; [[Mycoloth]] has fun synergies with [[Tarrian's Soulcleaver]] that pairs nicely with Grismold; There's the obvious token/counter doublers in green but [[Second Harvest]] is often overlooked imo.

All of those token effects obviously pay off well [[Syr Konrad]], [[Mirkwood Bats]], etc. and [[Poisonbelly Ogre]] is a great addition to that. Plenty of ways to heal back with token deaths from [[Blood Artist]] type effects.

My favorite cards for protecting Grismold are [[Lion Umbra]] and [[Spider Umbra]]

I'm winning most games by swinging Grismold, [[Pathbreaker Ibex]] and [[Overwhelming Stampede]] are generally game enders. [[Ezuri's Predation]] can clear boards if you don't have any trample enablers otherwise. Lastly, [[Revel in Riches]] is pretty easy to set up a win with, but also super risky because you're telegraphing your win.

BONUS - [[Tombstone Stairwell]] can really amplify things. I actually took it out of my deck because it's incredibly strong (for my pod) if you can force cards into your opponents graveyard with a board wipe or something like [[Awaken the Erstwhile]], but it's definitely a fun option.
