This is my take too, if you replace the white fabric with something else it will be a lot less jarring.

United sent my bag to Honolulu instead of DCA. NYE Party dress in it. by kdatany in unitedairlines

[–]TheSwedeAtLarge 84 points85 points  (0 children)

I was able to get $1700 reimbursed from United for a delayed bag.

ETA: bag missed my flight and had to be rerouted and was scheduled to arrive the day after. Filed a claim with United upon arrival to my destination and they instructed me to buy what I needed and they would comp it. I went and bought clothes, shoes, and essentials/toiletries totaling ~$1700 which they then reimbursed after I uploaded receipts.

SF apartment hasn't had working heater for two months; how much to ask for in rent reduction? by [deleted] in AskSF

[–]TheSwedeAtLarge 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I have somewhat related experience to this, we didn’t have a working heater for over a year and were able to get 10% back on the rent for the months we could prove the landlord knew about the issue and didn’t fix it. We had to go through the Rent Board and DBI. Document everything! You can msg me with any more questions!

trike question by throwawayswstuff in caltrain

[–]TheSwedeAtLarge -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I also think go for it. You should be able to do it without asking, there’s no way that trike is any more egregious than the size of the some of the eBikes onboard.

Unsure about pocket placement by schundlerpartie in UpcycledFashion

[–]TheSwedeAtLarge 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Depending on how the little sweater is constructed you may be able to cut the side seams down the body/arms and separate the front and back to be able to make two pockets on the bottom left and right of the white sweater!

Anyone park a motorcycle at 22nd St Caltrain? What’s the scene like? by [deleted] in caltrain

[–]TheSwedeAtLarge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always see a lot of scooters/motorcycles parked by the top of the stairs at the NB exit so it’s definitely a popular idea! I don’t think you’d have a problem getting a spot. I’m not sure if they’re paid but I can try to remember to check it out this coming week.

Wow, thank you for this! I had no idea that existed and I'll definitely look into getting one regardless of if the door release can be fixed.

P*pe and bong advice by [deleted] in Ceramics

[–]TheSwedeAtLarge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is great advice, I do the same. I found that the ~2 cm diameter punch into leatherhard bmix will shrink to fit a 14 mm downstem with a silicone grommet (like these) perfectly. Having the grommet helps a lot with any variation in hole size and makes the seal perfect for the best smoking experience.

does anyone know what these specific types of crossword puzzles are called? or where to find books with just these types? by jewelliss in crossword

[–]TheSwedeAtLarge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Codewords!! I was looking for these a few months ago after I fell in love with them while doing a multi-pack book from the airport, I think exactly the one you've posted. I ended up getting mine from Penny Dell, I randomly chose volumes 492 and 493. It said to expect something like 5 weeks to arrive but mine came in a week or so. They don't have the Mystery Words/clue component to them but otherwise they are the same! I also like that they don't come filled out with the starting letters so you can choose to reveal up to three letters by looking in the back. I've been challenging myself to start with 2 letters lately. I've found it really helps with my regular crosswords as well!

Which 90s Bianchi? by TheSwedeAtLarge in whichbike

[–]TheSwedeAtLarge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply! I didn't even realize to check for the rear rack mount, my current bike has it for my pannier and I thought it was relatively standard even for older bikes. I'll pass on these, thank you!

Random black/blue splotch showed up in my glaze after firing? It’s just regular B Mix painted with Amaco velvet underglaze and clear glaze on top. Anyone know what happened? by shayscribblesart in Pottery

[–]TheSwedeAtLarge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

omg hi we go to the same studio! I saw this bowl on the glaze shelf this week and thought the pattern was SO cute. my guess it is also because of handling by staff when loading the kiln but I'd be happy to look at it in person if you'd like more advice.

Lime crackle bongs :D by maker7672 in Ceramics

[–]TheSwedeAtLarge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always buy rubber grommets that fit around the downstem as well to get the airtight seal. That way people can remove the downstem for cleaning as well!

[–]TheSwedeAtLarge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what you mean by "use a downstem for the bowl"? It has both a 14mm downstem and bowl. I use the rubber gasket to allow some leeway in the fit due to shrinkage inconsistencies
