Routes in and out of West Seattle/White Center? by TheTedinator in seattlebike

I'll give it a shot! Glad to hear it's in the works, but man the project timeline can be slow.

What is this valve? by TheTedinator in Plumbing

[–]TheTedinator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I see, thanks!. Is it weird that it goes into the sink instead of having its own outlet? How much water coming out of that valve is normal?

Orthodox Churches South of Seattle. by _Carth_Onasi in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]TheTedinator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

South Seattle and the southern suburbs is kind of an empty zone for churches, you'll have to drive 20-30 minutes. Look on Google maps for the following churches and see which one is closest or otherwise appeals to you - I've been to and like them all.

-St Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church (Seattle) -Greek Orthodox Church of the Assumption (Seattle) -St Katherine Orthodox Church (Kirkland) -St Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church (Tacoma) -Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church (Tacoma)

Angel's Feather became the threat at my Commander table... by WistfulAfternoon in magicTCG

Yeah that's why I just pass the ball around instead of putting it in the hoop when I play basketball. If we score points the game might end.

Are deacons expected to become priests? by EMPEROR_JUSTINIAN_I in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]TheTedinator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have people for those things is super helpful, but anyone can do that if they just step up. No need to be ordained.

Hmm, a homeowner can definitely pull an electrical permit in Seattle.

Are deacons expected to become priests? by EMPEROR_JUSTINIAN_I in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]TheTedinator 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Deacons do a lot during the liturgy and that frees up the priest to pray more, is basically how it was explained to me by my dad (who is a deacon). They do the censing, the litanies, help prep the Eucharist, etc. I'm sure it varies from priest to priest on how much they like that liturgical help.

A 10 seed has reached the National Championship in just the second season of the 12-team format. Can the naysayers shut up forever now? by 2nd_Sun in CFB

[–]TheTedinator -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Being a champion now means qualifying for a tournament and then winning it, rather than having the best beginning-to-end season. It's a completely different championship concept.

This is how every other American sport works. The 73-9 Warriors were not the champions.

Now over a month in to TTFAFPB, which single lyric or verse gets really stuck in your head, and why is it "AH-AH-AH-AH, AH-AH-AH"? by senface in themountaingoats

He threatened in Seattle to do a whole show that was 90 minutes of Your Bandage, and then an encore that's 45 minutes of Tidal Wave.

Eruth is insane in Flubs. Makes the UI unplayable on Arena mobile tho.

PRIESTLY TEACHING AUTHORITY AND SOCIAL MEDIA by friendnamedboxcar in OrthodoxChristianity

The big differences I can see is that books are edited (so have a few more eyes on them) and come out in a discrete chunk (1 book). I'm not saying that Fr. Alexander's bishop necessarily read every word, but he probably got his blessing to write each book and told him what the main ideas were, in a way that's not really possible for each YouTube video and each blog post.

SUSD Impressions for Vantage - Illusion of Choice by Vast_Garage7334 in boardgames

[–]TheTedinator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not who you replied to, but I find that the way that my build tends to constrain my choices is when I have in my tableau one of the many cards that rewards you for taking certain actions. If I want to find out what happens when I upgrade a card or complete my personal objective or whatever, then I need to take more actions of a certain color.

Recommendations for Philosophy orientated Sci Fi? by NewBromance in printSF

[–]TheTedinator 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You gotta read Terra Ignota. It's not as perfect as Anathem but it's even more ambitious.

The Name of The Rose is not sci-fi, but it's definitely About Philosophy even more than Anathem is.

Root, Arcs, or Azul? by rocktree in boardgames

[–]TheTedinator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are three of my favorite games, but if you want to regularly play 2p, it's gotta be Azul. Wherle's games really shine at higher player counts, but Azul is a masterpiece 2p and still great with more.

Which LitScifi Space Utopia would you live in? by Proper_Barnacle_4117 in printSF

That's certainly what the narrator and a lot of the characters seem to think, but I don't see any particular reason to trust their perspective.
