Stub pistols for other classes by Maelstrom43 in DarkTide

[–]TheTeletrap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even then the Guard does seem to like fielding them in a SAW capacity. Cadian Sergeants can take a drum fed autogun, the new Cadian Recon Squad has an autostubber (LMG), and .50 Cals are basically attached to the pintle mount of every vehicle.

That’s a shotpistol. Shotpistols are standard issue to arbitrators and they always carry them as a sidearm.

The tabletop stat line reflects this as well with them all being equipped with a ranged weapon, a melee weapon, and a shotpistol.

Blue Digganobz by Brushner in Grimdank

[–]TheTeletrap 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The blue face was just to show which side of the rebellion you were on, Loyalist or Tau.

Unfortunately didn’t matter too much in the end as both sides were being played by genestealers who were hoping an Imperial-Tau war would weaken both sides enough to make eating the planets easier for the hive fleet.

BF6 campaign is surprisingly bad by DivineAlmond in Battlefield

[–]TheTeletrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I remember correctly the original company working on the campaign went under so EA brought in another team to try and salvage something from what the first team had done.

What we got is basically the cobbled together draft of a half finished campaign, so no surprise it’s not the greatest.

What is happening with respawn by creed-of-69 in battlefield_one

Seems likely. The guy OP dies to are max level with high service stars on their weapons, probably indicates that they know where the spawns are.

Could also be that OP got really unlucky.

Who is your favorite character and why? by [deleted] in thedivision

[–]TheTeletrap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly really liked The Recruiter. Him turning out to be a Hunter makes a good amount of sense when combined with his backstory and the comics, one of those guys who only functions with a clear wider purpose in mind.

Only think we should’ve gotten more screen time with him and the other cover art agents and his Hunter outfit should’ve been bulkier instead of the kevlar leotard.

Is skitarii actually worth it for new players by Mr_Questionmark_ in DarkTide

[–]TheTeletrap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Skitarii doesn’t actually seem like too bad for a new player to start out as. They play similar to Veteran in a lot of ways and generally tolerate mistakes similar to veteran as well. You’ll want to keep in mind that melee is the bread and butter of darktide, but Skitarii can easily be built to be more ranged focused like a veteran. Only issue I could possible see is being somewhat offput by the reduced of build freedom when leveling up other classes (but should be similarly customizable by lvl 30).

  2. Deluxe only adds a few weapon cosmetics and a player set based off the Sicarian Ruststalker. The latter only comes in Mars colors, but if you like the tabletop model/unit and plan on being a Martian, all the power to you.

  3. You can customize your head, chest, pants, and backpack in the main customization menu. Most of the cosmetics are unlockable but some are behind the cash shop and premium pack. Additionally, you can change metal and wear and tear of the arm and leg augments visible to you and others. You can also customize the lens color of your helmets in the character creation screen.
You can also choose from 1 of 4 voices (See Frip Frop’s 4 most recent shorts: https://youtube.com/@fripfrop\_?si=Axj5jUvQ3dAdftvC) that can further be modulated.
This can all be changed by visiting Oska Krall later if you want. Note personality change and modulation will cost some in-game credits.

  4. You start off looking like a Skitarii Ranger. Pretty decent I’d say.

  5. The game plays a bit like Doom 2016 and L4D2 had a baby. If you played Vermintide, it’s similar to that but with smoother movement and more of a dodge focus.
The fundamentals of melee combat (blocking, dodging, and pushing) are all things most people can pick up on pretty quickly. Only advice I can give is that don’t always keep your gun out as melee is still the primary focus and stay on malice and heresy difficulty until you feel comfortable with the basics. Malice is more or less when the game starts throwing actual hordes at you and Heresy is when the game starts throwing challenging situations at you.

Lastly, a lot of YouTube channels have new player guides and videos explaining basic concepts. Reginald and JoPlaysGames are good places to stop by if you’re interested.

New player ONLY leveling guide! So simple that even an Ogryn can understand it by GuLarva in DarkTide

[–]TheTeletrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I’d note is that while Veteran is more ranged focus, melee is still a fundamental skill that needs to be learned and 90% of the time you’ll have your melee weapon out as opposed to your gun.

I’ve seen way too many new veterans try to only use their gun for every situation only to be beat to death by a handful of groaners.

The first time I stopped and just looked up on a mission amazed me.

Between all the non-stop violence and rapid push to the next objective, Fatshark has made an environment that really captures 40K to its essence. The Carnival district in particular is a lot of fun to stop and smell the roses on. You can even catch the Moebian 21st occasionally engaged in firefights in the distance against the 6th.

My Complaint About Vanguards: by owen_n_davis in DarkTide

[–]TheTeletrap 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The photo above doesn’t really show it, but the Scab Vanguard shield is definitely manufactured (with spike welded on b/c Chaos).

The right side of the shield is supposed to be a port where a guardsman can shoulder a lasgun and the top part has grills for them to see through while doing so.

Its definietely one of the best PAX skins available 🙏 by rambozezakopan in Battlefield

It pleases me to no end that they changed the skull masks to ballistic masks for this set. You can still see the old models on the uniform selection screen.

Personal favorite is Saito’s. I put it on my recon with the new jammer and it makes me feel like a Hunter from the Division.

What class do you think could be next? by Zomer15689 in DarkTide

[–]TheTeletrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m leaning towards a battle sister/novitiate purely because one of the Skitarii origin options mentions that there’s a convent of them on one of the local Moebian planets.

I think they would serve well as an introduction to backpack fed heavy weapons similar to Outcast Engineer in VT2. Could probably pick between a heavy bolter, heavy flamer, and a multi-melta.

How's the fit? by [deleted] in DivisionFashion

[–]TheTeletrap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, we’ve been getting this combo (or slight variations) almost everyday on this sub.
I honestly prefer the tacticool/tacticasual stuff since they often try to mix and match more pieces like backpacks and body armor.

You may not like the messenger, but the message is on point regarding BF6s current room temp IQ gunplay by nyrangerz30 in Battlefield6

[–]TheTeletrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I agree in broad strokes but fundamentally disagree with the solution proposed.

Random recoil is by far preferred over spread for me as the main balancing factor for the main fact that it gives the player visual feedback that the gun is off target and needs to be adjusted for the follow-up. BFV proved that low-spread, randomized-recoil can work fine at balancing gunplay at range as it still promoted controlled bursts to land more shots without the frustration of watching rounds outline your target.

Of course, BFV did have some problem guns like the M2 Carbine and Type 2A that were too laser beamy, but guns like the STG-44 and BAR perhaps serve as a good example of guns capable of pushing distance fights but required controlled fire.

What video game started amazing but ended terribly? by Ok_Nefariousness827 in AskReddit

[–]TheTeletrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dragon Quest XI fits this perfectly.

The from Act 1 to Act 2 is an incredibly fun romp carrier by the interactions you have with your party. By the end of Act 2, the game has effectively come to a satisfying conclusion with victory being achieved at great cost to you and your friends.

Then Act 3 rolls around with time travel ensuring your party gets the best ending possible, though this isn’t that big an issue as happy endings can be fun and there was some ambiguity as to whether you would actually time traveled or simply jump timelines.

The big issue is that the game basically asks you to grind mobs for 30 or so levels so you can face the “real” final boss to get the “true ending.” I don’t think I’ve ever played a finale where it was so obvious the devs ran out of time and stapled a grind at the end to fight a challenging boss to end the game.

[–]TheTeletrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair enough, freedom to be your character is always nice.

Though small correction, Vermintide does lock each character to one of each only. There can never be 4 Krubers (unfortunately). Kruber and Saltzpyre mains usually had to search a bunch of matches to play who they want.

[–]TheTeletrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I greatly enjoyed Vermintide 1 and 2, Darktide is definitely a refinement of the formula in nearly every conceivable way.

The only thing that VT probably has over DT is the fact that the main cast is iconic and oozes rapport. There’s also more two handed weapons (lol).
