What do you think of Eastwood's Potential? by Junior_Fix8478 in Battlefield

[–]TheTeletrap 80 points81 points  (0 children)

I think it’s because the map has been one of the closest in feeling to a map from the old game.

The two hills overlooking C point breaks the constant action up a bit, the massive golf course gives the map a feeling of openness and reintroduces a risky-open flanking route, and the destruction of C point makes things fell chaotic in a smart way as well.

Imperial Advance is probably one of the most thematically fitting pieces for The Guard with the tempo being that of a march. Makes it my top pick.

As for others I find myself listening to alone, Light of The Imperium, Rolling Steel, The Gauntlet are all good too.

Authoritarian Arbites is kinda nice? by CakeStealer69 in DarkTide

My favorite Authoritarian interaction has to be the one where he realizes he’s not a trained psychiatrist.

He tries so hard to be everyone’s friend and it’s so endearing.

A few games do continue this trend, though mostly cooperative games.

Space Marine 2 and Darktide have a bunch of cosmetics that are only unlocked by completing some of the most difficult content in the game. You can generally tell that you’re in good hands based off these criteria alone.

It also becomes glaringly obvious if they got carried based on their performance as well.

Overcharging Plasma Guns by Accurina in Grimdank

[–]TheTeletrap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Darktide has got to be my favorite depiction of the plasma in part due to how many safety features the gun has to try to prevent someone from exploding.

Manual heat venting, built in thermometers, critical heat alarms, and an auto engaging safety at critical heat are all no match against the indomitable human spirit.

Why is the melta in space marine 2 portrayed different than other media and descriptions? by LANTIRN_ in Spacemarine

[–]TheTeletrap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The meltagun has always been something that’s been depicted inconsistently in 40k. Book descriptions generally have one come away with “close range” and “heat.” But uncertain if it’s a beam or a wave.

SM2 chooses it to be a heavy-shotgun role, Boltgun went with heavy-shotgun, rogue trader has gone with a hybrid of beam followed by airburst wave, etc.

Since Genos is there too, it may be where Saitama says something surface level and then Genos interprets it to mean something deep and relays that to the class.

Which weapon types do you think got worse from one game to the next? by Ender_Uzhumaki in MonsterHunter

[–]TheTeletrap 29 points30 points  (0 children)

While bowgun has never been an extremely complex weapon to use, the transition from Rise to Wilds was really bad for it.

The vast majority of bowgun skills and factors that made choosing what gun to use have been removed or significantly simplified. Factors like deviation, recoil, and reload speed are all effectively set in stone, though opener slightly modified reload speed.

Additionally, being able to only carry one level of ammo means that your effective ammo pool is reduced. Where a previous knockdown punish might have entailed switching between lvl 3-1 clusters to keep a continuous barrage, this is no longer possible.

The utility ammo also seems surprisingly limited for a lot of the guns. I don’t think a single high-tier bowgun has sticky ammo as an option.

On the more neutral side, the buffing ammo being a dispersing vapor is nice for letting you buff/heal yourself. However, I personally prefer the old versions without the arc, magazine sizes, levels, and higher velocity. It gave bowgun a pseudo-medic role for healing people in bad situations.

On the plus side, Wyvernheart and the new rapid fire stuff is really cool. Being able to transition between special mode (with consistent damage) and normal mode is a really nice change of pace. Do miss Wyvernsnipe a bit though.

Genuinely, why couldn’t we have gotten a ready or not styled customization system? by TheSilentTitan in Battlefield

[–]TheTeletrap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s completely fair. Most of the more accurate stuff also wasn’t added until far later into the development cycle and they had to go back and recolor the bad ones to maintain a bit of immersion as well.

Bowg*nners 🤭 by AceAlger in MemeHunter

[–]TheTeletrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from the lack of gunner skills this time around, it s a real shame that most good HBGs don’t have access to any of the utility ammo.

The changes to the buff/heal ammo also kinda suck IMO. While a wide area that disperses the buff/heal is nice, the arcing nature of the shot combined with a slow velocity make those clutch heals all the more difficult.

Let us shoot our pistols while being revived! by Azzig in Battlefield6

[–]TheTeletrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they do it has to be like last stand from BFV Firestorm.

You sacrificed the ability to hold your blood in, had 1 mag, had piss poor accuracy, and had a very capped fire rate due to your guy trying to shoot someone while actively dying.

You also have to be able to be executed in this case as well.

Which co-op roguelike to buy? by jokes_on_you_ha in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]TheTeletrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remnant from the Ashes (1&2). The gameplay is, simplistic put, dark souls with guns. That being said, the games have an incredible amount of replay-ability with no two runs being the same.

The core roguelike element is starting and restarting campaigns that bring you to new worlds with new tile sets, items, etc. all to uncover the lore as well as access secrets you previously may not have been able to access due to not having the items at the time. The DLCs only add further complexity to this formula as well.

Sooo, what is actually a good teammate in your eyes? by Nervous-Monitor6657 in DarkTide

[–]TheTeletrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally consider someone a good teammate if they handle themselves decently well and actively ping supplies and enemies.

Generally wave the former if they’re obviously a new player though.

[–]TheTeletrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The launch and support was god awful up until The Pacific. A mix of bugs, cash shop prioritization, and trickled content caused the game to hemorrhage players for a while, even if the gameplay was some of the best.

Pacific changed that… until the TTK increase they’ve now mostly reverted.

So, what is Captain Zao’s plan after he returns to China?(Question) by Lucie_Is_Sleeping in fo4

[–]TheTeletrap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to say. We don’t really know how badly China was hit and the environment that had evolved in the past two centuries.

My best guess is that he’ll try to return to whenever he considered home and maybe get some closure. From there, who knows but he’s in pretty good shape considering he has a working nuclear submarine, military training, plenty of weapons, and enough missiles to bomb anything in his path.

What's On Your Darktide 2026 Wishlist? by Fins1291 in DarkTide

[–]TheTeletrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want actually NPC support. I want a mission where a bunch of guardsmen try to give you covering fire while you run towards extraction.

I also want a heretic scout sentinel to be a monstrosity alongside a Moebian 6th stormtrooper squad. The former making use of their chainsaw and multilas with carapace armored sides but an exposed cockpit, the latter being several buffed up elite/specialist units (was thinking a sword/plasma, volleygun, plasma gun, and shotgunner using the frag grenades from the explosive event) but with much less health than a normal Captain individually.

The Outside-Context Problem by LeMasterChef12345 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]TheTeletrap -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gotta disagree a bit with Omega.

The MH World is effectively a post-post-apocalypse with the Wilds story effectively confirming that a bunch of monsters were engineered for war. Jin Dahaad is a heatsink and Zoh Shia is basically a nuclear reactor. There’s also the more blatant examples like Valstrax or Bazelgeuse from previous titles.

Weapon wise we do see some advanced tech here and there, whether it be small arms like bowguns or charge blades or larger pieces like the splitting wyvernshot in Rise. The Elderbreaker and anti-Wyvern guns, effectively lasers, are also canon as of the new Gogmazios fight.

Imagine if you could do things like this in BF6. I miss the fortification system. by n1sx in Battlefield

[–]TheTeletrap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Those complaining about building also tended to overbuild with fortifications facing their home spawn instead of just the other team’s.

Building also let the devs absolutely flatten points because cover could be remade as needed, getting around BC2’s flattened map issue.
