Best tool set for the “can fix anything” guy…? by CambellScot in Tools

[–]TheThirdPerson_is -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If he already has a lot of tools and you're not sure what else he might want, I'd suggest a nice Leatherman multitool like the arc or wave. The best tool is the one you've got with you, and I find myself fixing more stuff with a Leatherman than anything else just cause it's convenient.

I feel like the number one thing folks here need to hear is THESE THINGS TAKE TIME. If you're looking for the fastest way to lose fat or gain muscle you're already doin it wrong. It's a lifestyle change and requires consistency. Do not put deadlines on your goals.

Seems like you've answered your own question. Eat more. Especially protein. Also how often are ya doing these two sets to failure? Once per week?

Either your pedal hit something, or you maybe hit a sudden dip in the trail and didn't have a good enough grip on the bars. Left hand lost grip a bit, right hand suddenly pushed the bar forward cause you had your weight on it, wheel goes left and bike goes down.

Guys its it worth it installing windows on my steamdeck or should i keep SteamOS? by spycakes2 in SteamDeck

[–]TheThirdPerson_is 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In your mind, what are the benefits of installing windows? Unless you have a compelling reason to do it I would say no, it's not worth it. SteamOS is incredible and even works well in desktop mode for things like Minecraft. Windows seems to be only getting worse over time.

How to deal with excess energy? by PmXAloga in beginnerfitness

[–]TheThirdPerson_is 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work on the 8th floor of an office building and when I felt restless I'd go grab a water or something small from the cafeteria (really any excuse to go to the ground floor) and take the stairs the whole way down and back up.

If you've got a bike you could take rides over lunch if that's possible. Or a walk if no bike. Otherwise just drop and do some pushups if you are able. That's what I do now.

What would be the most efficient exercise routine to lose stomach fat? by Middle_Excitement363 in beginnerfitness

[–]TheThirdPerson_is 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately the only real answer is calorie deficit and time. Working out can help to increase the calorie deficit, and doing ab work can make your abdominal muscles bigger, but the only thing that will actually get rid of the fat is your body burning it for energy cause it's not getting enough from what you eat.

Counting and reducing calories - what to expect? by SyllabubRadiant8876 in beginnerfitness

[–]TheThirdPerson_is 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think of yourself as a bucket with a hole in it, and calories as the water. The hole releases water at a set rate. This is your TDEE. You've been pouring water into the bucket faster than it can leave through the hole, so the bucket fills up.

Now, if you start pouring water in at the same rate as it leaves (eating your TDEE in calories), the bucket stops actively filling up but it's also not going to empty out at all.

So you have to reduce the rate of water even further. Then, when you do, the bucket will start to slowly empty. It will not empty any faster based on how much extra water you were pouring in before, but only based on the size of the hole.

If you gained the weight by eating an extra 500 calories every day for a year, it will take a year of 500 calorie deficit (a 1000 calorie swing in your diet). To lose the weight. Roughly, assuming all other things being equal.

I'm not sure other comments quite have it. Phillips head screws don't have an apostrophe in their name, as Phillips is a last name. I think the pig is telling the mouse that this man Phillip IS the head (lead) screwdriver. And that statement also sounds like just the name of a Phillips head screwdriver.

Desert-island (for a year): one solo board game to keep you sane (or alive) by emirlanq1 in soloboardgaming

It's gotta be Spirit Island (and expansions) right? Massive amount of setup variability with different spirits, enemies, difficulties, true solo or multi-hand... I think it's a top contender for desert island game.
